New port for 2016

We've re-ported the game for 2016, which now runs at 60 FPS, includes higher resolution textures, better quality cut-scenes, improved audio, higher poly models, numerous fixes and improvements!

About the game

You'll guide Mudokon champion Abe, and his aquatic Gabbit partner Munch, in Oddworld's third adventure, using special psychic powers, cool power-ups, and other special abilities to deliver payback as they reclaim the last gabbit eggs on Oddworld, which have been packaged in a can of gabbiar.
  • Play as a team - use Munch and Abe cooperatively to make your way through the trials of Oddworld. Leverage both characters' unique strengths:
  • Abe- Abe can climb and jump to reach new areas, and then run to escape from dangerous enemies. When all else fails, chant to take control of the enemy's soul, and use their guns to clear a path to safety.
  • Munch - Munch can swim around the new realms of Oddworld. When on the ground, zip along with a wheelchair power up. Need to move some yapping Slogs out of the way? Just use Munch's nifty remote control head port to fire up the crane and drop those Sloggies in their pen.
  • Special psychic powers - Munch and Abe's psychic powers can extend their reach and get others to do the dirty work:
  • As Abe - Let Abe's chant roar to take possession of a gun-toting Big Bro Slig and clear almost anything out of the way. Abe can use spooce or spiritual power gained byharvesting SpooceShrubs to posses other creatures as well, but why think small?
  • As Munch - If Abe can't mesmerize someone into getting the job done, Munch can use his handy remote control head port to hijack nearby machines including cranes, and 50-caliber Anesthesia bots to tackle the really tough obstacles.
  • Power-Ups – Every friendly character you can find becomes a fighting ally, Fuzzles, Mudokons…. Need to get somewhere quickly or get over a wall, like right now? Use Oddworld's consumer power-ups like Expresso and Bounce to amp up Munch and Abe's abilities to perform cool moves. For the more direct approach, possess high-caliber weapon toting enemies.
  • Oddworld, now in "new and improved 3D!" - it's a whole new Oddworld, with lush rivers, towering mountains and hundreds of trees that bloom or die.
  • Interact with dozens of different oddball races - use GameSpeak® to get Oddworld's Inhabitants from the heavily armed Big Bro Sligs to the cute but ferocious Fuzzles) to carry out tricky tasks or just beat the crap out of enemies.
  • "Frustration Free" gaming - Oddworld's new intelligent cinematic camera, auto-targeting system and no-stick navigation system makes playing a breeze! Plus with easy
  • QuikSave® and limitless lives, players have plenty of chances to take on any situation… no matter how Odd!

Buggy, lame story, not innovative

Ok, just hear me out... I am a huge Oddworld fan. I've played Abe's Exoddus when I was between 8-10 years old, and when I got older, Abe's Oddysee. It was fantastic. The dystopian feeling, the creatures, the analogies to real life, and the ironic humor were all incredible. I thought Munch's Oddysee would top that, but it doesn't. Firstly, it doesn't have the same dystopian feeling as the predecessors. It feels more like a parody of the previous games. In the predecessors, you had an anxious feeling when a Slig, Paramite, or Scrab was chasing you and could kill you with one hit. In this game, you don't have that. You can just revive yourself, and it takes many hits to kill you. This feels very disappointing and not challenging. Also, the story just feels different. They reduce Glukkons to characters who only care about money and are no longer the fearful bosses that scared you to death in the last games because they were so powerful because of their influence. They feel like worthless bozos, just like all the enemies in the new game. Additionally, the humor in this game feels like a Spaceballs parody. In the last game, there were such jokes, but they were incidental. This was acceptable because the whole game was serious. In Munch's Oddysee, it's the other way around. The whole story feels like a parody with occasional serious moments, but the ridiculous story undermines them. Secondly, the character designs of the new creatures are not enhanced nor creative. The Vykkers are pretty much Glukkons with arms, Big Bro Slig is just a bigger Slig that is not a threat, and Fuzzles are hairy balls, which have been shown countless times in other games, films, etc. The Meeps are just sheep with one eye... come on! Thirdly, this port is very buggy. I was often stuck in some places, or the NPCs that were following me got stuck. I even had to load a saved state because I could not get out. It was very disappointing. Sorry, Oddworld Inhabitants...

Get rid of the AWSD keyboard controls

Unfortunatly it is not possible to replace them by arrow keys. But there is a solution 1. Install the program "AutoHotkey" and 2. Execute the following script to start Munch (Munch.ahk) saved as file Run, C:UsersxxxxxxxDesktopOddworld - Munch's Oddysee.lnk F1::Suspend up::w down::s left::a right::d
