Abe is a first class Mudokon floor-waxer for RuptureFarms. He was catapulted into a life of adventure when he overheard plans by his boss to turn all the Mudokons into Tasty Treats as part of a last-ditch in Molluck the Glukkon's meat-packing empire.
During his escape from RuptureFarms, Abe received a vision from the mysterious Big Face, showing Abe that he must not only rescue his fellow Mudokons, but also protect all of Oddworld's creatures from the predatory Magog Cartel.
Enter Oddworld's surreal sensory overload of pure gaming and claim your destiny. Saviour or salami? You decide.
Version from gog had several bugs. 1 rope/lever for a hatch in zulag 15 to a secret level were missing. The final rope/lever you pull before dropping down to the board was missing, so I couldn't finish the game lmao.
Also, videos didn't work.
There were never any of these bugs in the old playstation game. 5/5 game but 3/5 pc version.
It's a puzzle platformer. And running, rolling, pulling levers and a whole lot of jumping compose most of the gameplay. Your character get some special abilities later in the game including possession of enemies, but you will spend most of the game running for your life.
What sets this game apart from other puzzle platformers is its endless charm. The world of Oddworld is a fantastic realm where the grotesque industrial meets alien landscapes. Our unlikely hero learns that after the extinction of several species at the hand of the food corporation for which he works, his species is next on the list. His escape turns into a shamanistic journey to rediscover his people's unique abilities and finally save them from becoming the next product on the shelf.
What this game lacks in graphics it makes up for in sound. The cries of the different creatures, the chanting of the main character and the dynamic changes to the music enhanced an already atmospheric experience.
Abe's Oddysee was a step forward from the jump and run games I used to play back in the day. Don't get me wrong. The Super Mario series is still pretty fun.
When I first played Abe's Oddysee I never realized that such quality was possible in a jump and run game. Although I was only a young teenager at that time. Still today when I play Abe's Oddysee, I still admire the art work and graphic integration.
I think a lot of the high quality jump and run games these day used Abe's Oddysee style of game and graphic as a foundation.
The Oddworld series is a fun one, and I know it will be enjoyed.
Thanks again GOG.
Hello, I used to play this game when i was child and now i've just bought from GOG and it jst goes to show all game devolpers of games of today that games 10-15 years ago are a lot better than most games of today. they should bring back more games like oddworld for younger generations to enjoy
