Manage your own space ship hands on
I bought this game a week ago and have managed to clock 33½ hours on it so far. This is an excellent game and exactly what any indie game should strive for, what is lacks in graphics it makes up in game play. In essence is this is a space trading simulator, you pick up good from one station and leave them in another, sometimes you pick up something along the way, or go treasure hunting on derelict wreaks floating in space, navigating trough asteroid fields and storming nebulae. Out in deep space, several nations and many trading companies and characters have their own agendas and will send you on said missions. Sometimes routine delivery jobs, sometimes you might have to sneak your way passed pirates or an authority by planning your route carefully and shutting down non-vital systems forcing you at times to fly blind. While most space pilot games are based around WWII dog-fighting, this game is more similar to submarine warfare. You don't actually see space, you are looking at your systems and monitors to "see" where you and everything else are. Apart from looking at your navigating computers 2D representation of space or scrutinising emission patterns to determine your enemy at long range, you are also the mechanic on your one man crew space ship, managing systems, checking emissions (how you are detected) and power consumption and storage and even doing field repairs on damaged systems with hopefully spare parts, or perhaps cannibalising other systems parts, or worst case, doing without. There is a lot of reading in this game. All communication and world building is done via text. The news can be relevant for your missions or sometimes just there for flavour. The game is sometimes hard, it is always in iron man and failure to deliver on time or show up on time will cancel the mission. Hoping for more ships (I've only seen three buy-able in the game so far) and a few bug-fixes. All in all very happy with the games and will put many more hours into it.
