Nox Archaist

The game is awesome. They are trying to emulate a late 80's/early 90's gaming experience, and that's great, and they do it in a way that pays homage to those games. It's technically better and that seems to be a wise design decision. This game represents pure and peak nostalgia and it's a complete success for doing so. There is simply too much good to say about this game. It looks excellent, it plays excellent, its incredible attempts to make art on tire spinners nostalgia succeeds, and the story has enough to keep momentum going. This is the best game I've played in possibly three decades and I've been playing games since the Atari 2600 was hot new tech. Just an amazing experience from start to a few hours finish because I couldn't wait any longer to post this review.

NOX ARCHAIST is incredible. 43 years have passed from 1981 to 2024, and these developers have mastered the Apple 2e hardware like no one else today. Technically speaking, it is the most advanced Apple IIe game I have ever seen. I am blown away by how not only the technical implementation but also the handling has been vastly improved. The overall user experience is much better than in the "good" old days. I can only play on AppleWin, not a real Apple IIe, but it just works perfectly. Thank you for this dedicated masterpiece. The developers probably won't get rich off of it, but their talent has all the love and passion a game developer could imagine. My humblest, most heartfelt thanks and appreciation for this masterpiece.

I've only been playing for a couple of days, but as somebody who's been playing video game RPGs since the 80s, I'm already hooked on Nox Archaist. The game really does feel like a CRPG from 40 years ago. I miss these kind of games where the focus is on adventure, discovery, and exploration, instead of on graphics. So glad I found this!

Very lovingly crafted throwback to the dawn of gaming. Loving every moment of it and would recommend it to anyone who remembers the times with very little QoL features and virtually no hand holding, or to people who want to see what games were about, "back in my day"

An awesome trip down memory lane. Reminds me of my days playing Ultima IV/V. I have only played for 5 hours but story appears reasonably complex. Battles are hard so better like grinding.
