Santa's packing heat!

The game is fine if you know what you're getting for your money, which is to say it is a short and very simple game with no bells or whistles. All you do in this game is walk down a strait path (always towards the top right of your screen), and shoot enemies, and once in a while you encounter a very easy boss, that's it, that's the whole game in a nutshell. I've yet to encounter any secrets or alternate routes after having beaten 3 bosses so I guess there just aren't any in the game. The game does not seem very optimized and will start to drop frames hard if too much is going on on the screen, which will happen often because there are many sections in the game where you have to fight a large horde of enemies all at once. Luckily you can tone down the graphics substantially in the options menu and this helps. The game is fun though, just be aware its one of those hard to aim games due to perspective. Safe points are very generous at the start and slowly become more sparse which increases the challenge of the game. The hit boxes with boss attacks are kinda wonky though so keep that in mind. Every boss I've encountered so far I've beaten on my first try, so they are not very hard but that's not to say they are poorly designed, I think I just got lucky so far and picked the right weapon for the fight every time. Enemy variety/Encounter design/Level design is all good enough to keep things fresh and entertaining. The music isn't all that great but provides a ok atmosphere. Ultimately the game's not great but its also not bad, you can have fun with it if you keep your expectations in check. Just shoot, hack, and grenade your way to victory over the dead bodies of your Christmas themed enemies.

Great game.

For Me: This game is a 3D Re-creaction of Ghosts'N Goblins - with e.g. inspiration from "Nightmare before Christmas", "The Abominable Snowman" and "Halloween". If you like(d) - or - remember(ed) eg. "Ghosts'N Goblins" from the Year 1990, "Nightmare before Christmas", "The Abominable Snowman" and Halloween then This game is for you.

Stupidly fun but kinda simplistic

My biggest gripe is the targetting with a mouse is a bit off (granted might just be inaccurate guns but whatever), it's fine if you just want to kill time.

Some Light Action Fun

This game is not very deep, but it is well executed and fun. I started playing with a friend in co-op mode on the same screen for the first campaign and finished the other two solo. The game plays well on a twin-stick gamepad and should be a breeze to get into for anyone used to this mode of input. I didn't try with a keyboard and mouse (by the time I started solo, I just continued with the setup I had started with). Aiming takes a little bit of getting used to, but a lot of guns are pretty forgiving with either good blast radius or high rates or fire. The only gun that I found really hard to use was the sniper rifle and I wouldn't recommend it. The last stretch of the last campaign had moments that made me sweat a bit, but for the most part, the game is on the very easy side. If you're used to action games, you'll kill most bosses in one go and in particular, a flamethrower, if you have one at hand, will make most bosses so easy that it feels like cheating. The game is mostly action shooting through mobs (with gun, grenades and melee weapon, although to be honest, I didn't use my axe for 95%+ of the game) and there is a decent variety of opponents to tackle, plus of course the bosses (didn't count, I think there might have been somewhere between 10 and 20) across the 3 campaigns. If you're good with action games, you should clear the entire game in a few hours (although I think the game states that there is a 4th uncompleted campaign at the time of this writing, but if it gets released, I don't see it prolonging the game more than an hour of two... either way, the game feels complete enough without it). There are also some very light puzzles to jazz things which is a nice mood change, but they won't stump you in any way. Don't expect to have much of a challenge there. This is first and foremost an action game. The enemies, levels and music are cute and the enemies get destroyed in a very family-friendly cartoonish way though the reasonably realistic gun arsenal you use in the game would make me not recommend this for young children. It does feels like a nice game to play to get in the mood around Christmas time (I'm probably playing it a bit early). And if you have someone to play with, all the better. For the price, assuming you are comfortable with a twin-stick gamepad, I think this game is an easy recommendation for anyone in the mood for a lighter action game, especially if they appreciate lighthearted Christmas aesthetics.

Santa with a machine gun? Yeah!!!

No More Snow isn't an AAA game. It's not even a BBB game. Yet it put a wide grin on my face, and I'm sooo happy that I bought this love letter to the arcade games of yore (think Commando or Who Dares Wins) with a humorous Christmas twist. First, Krampus tries to ruin Christmas, and Santa (or maybe St. Nicholas) must stop him and his minions. Then there are two add-ons. In the first one (my favorite part), Krampus attacks Mr. and Mrs. Claus while they are vacationing on a tropical island, and then he tries to conquer the world on Halloween. The graphics are a bit on the low-poly side but stylish. The enemies are mostly winter/Christmas-themed. There are reindeers, elves, several kinds of snowmen, etc. The snowmen are my favorite, especially the tropical snowman armored with a log, and... the zombie snowman! The zombie snowman perfectly illustrates the game's vibes: hey, let's just have some silly shooting fun for its own sake! Each level dutifully culminates with a badass boss. The music consists of several themes, often hinting to Christmas carols arranged in a darker style, fitting the ironic nature of the game. Santa's arsenal consists of about 15 weapons: e.g., an axe, a katana, and a shovel for melee combat, and pretty much everything from a shotgun through a machine gun through a flamethrower to a laser rifle on the firearm side. There are no bells and whistles. Each of the game's segments starts with a short animation introducing the X-Mas/summer/Halloween theme and ends with another short animation of Krampus's defeat. The game is even true to its inspiration in that after you finish the Halloween part, it just loops back to Christmas, like 1980s' video games did. My only gripe would be about the non-rebindable keys, as I've never felt comfortable with WASD. I completed No More Snow after about 6 hours of giving hell to snowmen on the highest difficulty, and it didn't overstay its welcome. This solo-dev affair knows exactly what it wants to do - and does it spot-on. It's simple, it's challenging, and - last and foremost - it's fun. At least I had a blast.
