Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars

I can't get it to accept inputs from a controller, and 1/2 the time when I try to quit the game nothing happens. It knows the controller is there, and shows button prompts for it, but no button I press does anything. I might try to get into with keyboard but that's not what I prefer, and the fact that 50% of the time selecting quit has just made the menu go away while the music still plays is not encouraging.

I got it at a discount because i thought it might raise the chances of GOG putting up more actual Senran Kagura games, but it just isn´t worth it. It felt more like a job than entertainment. I asked for a refund even though i paid less than half of the original price. I will never understand what's so controversial about Senran Kagura that it basically died. Sony apparently thinks violent shooting games are normal, while a bit of fanservice is the devil himself. Please put actual Senran Kagura games on GOG, i'd buy them at triple the price of what i would've spent here.

The game is a visual novel with a lot of text to read and with some fights in an action adventure ninja style. There is a total of 10 characters to select (4 from Neptunia, 4 from Senran Kagura, and 2 others). You have 7 skills to select from, 4 slots for items (2 throwable weapons and 2 talkismans), and a grid with gems that increase your stats, damage, ofer passives, etc. The gameplay is very light-core and repetitive in order to level up your character. Every character has an ultimate power to unleash when the shinobi metter is full. Between the 8 main chapters, you can do an arena-type mission to level up and gain gold and items. The controller is working very well in this game (I have an X-Box controller, and I recommend it to everyone to play it using a controller). I had some issues when I quit the game because the game wouldn't quit to desktop and music played in background. A reset is required. In order to avoid this, I usually exit to the main screen and hit Alt+F4 to quit. The game was fun, and it's a typical Idea Factory/Compile heart product. I recommend it to the fans of the developers who know what to expect and to light players. The game ran perfectly on integrated 680M graphics from a 6900HX laptop processor with everything on full at over 60 FPS at 1080p. I didn't need the discrete GPU for this game, so the requirements are quite low. The camera is a little wonky from time to time in certain corners.The game can be finished in 10-12 hours on normal difficulty, and also all the achievements are quite easy to get. If you play it on hard you will nedd 20-24 hourts because the enemies will be more damage resistant.8 out of 10 for me ( buy it when discounted ).

This is definitely a good addition to your collection, but yes... it lacks a lot of the fanservice of the other titles. I personally came for the Senran side of the game. I have much of the Neptunia series... but I haven't started playing any of them in depth. Now that I know I do not "Officially" own them since St**m confirmed to only sell licenses and not actual games... I find myself needing to dive into the catalog i assumed i built there. The main story makes this seem less like a true Senran/Nep game and just what it actually is... literally a universe of its own where the Seran girls and the Neptunia girls exist as opposing factions. You have all you normal girls from the Nep Series... I think... and you have the leaders of the four major teams in Senran. Then you get 2 extra girls that... based on what I have seen from both games character wise... seem to be specific to this game... which is sad... because one of them is AMAZING. If there is truly any reason to get this game, it is her. YAS! Sadly there is little chance to see her again as she is directly connected to what seems to be a Neptunia based character and she is a ninja... meaning she was likely created for this storyline alone and not to be used in the future. Gameplay is interesting as you have personal buffs you can activate, special attacks and ultimates to customize, and you are able to switch between multiple girls during battle. The combat can be a bit janky as you do have some input speed issues... think of monster hunter where your attacks have set timing and speed. Its made this way for the counter and defense system they have which is... also janky. But... to balance this... you bring in one girl and fight until she accumulates too much dmg, then you can switch her out and give her the chance to recover some of her HP as she rest. Funny thing is I used this more than the defensive options. If you wanna use one girl most of the time learn to defend... or be prepared to switch often.
