Myst Masterpiece Edition

This is the quintessential first person point and click adventure game. The graphics were amazing, and still hold up. The puzzles are fun, challenging but not extremely difficult. The only better game of this genre is the sequel Riven.

The game runs in ScummVM and I had no problems at all in Windows 10. I was surprised that this game from 1993 looked pretty good. I completed this with my sister in two gaming sessions and we had no problems at all finishing it completely on our own. Myst is really not that hard and not cryptic. Just need a bit of patience. We will play the rest of the series soon. We picked this version because it is the closest to the original. I can understand if it doesn't meet modern expectations.

I remember when I first got my hands on this game. i spend hours in the dark looking around the island thinking any minute now something is going to scare the mess out of me. I re bought this game just to revisit it. These are the adventure games i miss although i enjoy my sword fights and spell casting sometimes I would like to take my time and look round take in the visuals need more of these

I first played Myst on my PlayStation back when it first came out. Nothing was as immersive or awe inspiring as this game. The same holds true today. I wish Cyan were still around to make great games.

This game is great -- I used to play it years ago and really enjoyed the challenge of trying to solve the puzzles. I recently wanted to play it again on a newer PC than the original title was created for -- that being a Windows XP machine. Upon first install, I would get an error and the game would shut down (the error that prompts to send/don't sent report). A solution to getting past this error that I found to work -- for the most part -- is the following: I uninstalled my version of QuickTime and installed Myst along with the QuickTime Lite that it prompts you to install once Myst has finished installing. This alone does not fix the error but if you go to your newly installed QuickTime; Start > All Programs > QT Lite > Configuration, head over to the Advanced tab, and under Video select Safe Mode and then relaunch Myst and that should do it. Note however, I ran into some issues once getting to the land of the windmill. I would just reload the game but it seems to crash at times in that area. Save often! I thought I would share in case others were having issue with Windows XP.
