Welcome to Myst: a starkly beautiful island, eerily tinged with mystery and shrouded in intrigue.

Journey to Myst Island and other stunning, long dormant locations - called “Ages”- and begin to unravel the mystery you have been thrust into. As you learn what happened on the island, you will find that you are playing a key role in an epic story whose ending has not yet been written. Explore deeper connections in these stunning and surreal Ages, uncover a story of ruthless family betrayal, and make choices that will affect both you, and the world of Myst itself.

Cyan, the indie studio that created the beloved classic, has reimagined Myst.

Built from the ground up to play both in VR as well as traditional flatscreen displays, Myst is teeming with new art, new sound, re-imagined interactions, and even optional puzzle randomization. Finally... the highly anticipated Myst 2D/VR experience has arrived!

Now you can explore the Ages of Myst in a new dimension!

BUILT FOR BOTH VR AND 2D DISPLAYS

Designed and built from the ground up in Unreal Engine, this newly-reimagined version of Myst includes fresh takes on the visuals in every area in the game. With both VR and 2D play experiences in mind, this definitive, modern edition of Myst will immerse you in the world in a way that has never been possible before.

Additionally, Myst includes many “comfort level” features for both new and experienced VR users, including the option to enable smooth or snap turning, quick travel up stairs and ladders, vertical height quantization, and more!

NEW AND REQUESTED FEATURES

For the first time in Myst’s history, enjoy the game in many different languages through localized UI, including dialogue and gameplay-context subtitles.
- A variety of accessibility options to assist in gameplay.
- Tired of taking notes? Now you can take photo captures in-game to keep track of what you’ve encountered!
- A large number of graphics options to choose from, such as supersampling options and Ray Tracing to bring the best Myst experience out of the hardware you have.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I need a VR headset to play Myst?
A: You do not need a VR headset to play Myst. Myst is playable with or without a VR headset.

Q: I bought Myst when it first came out in 1993. Can I get a free upgrade to this new version?
A: Thank you for your support over the years! We are not giving out free upgrades to previous purchasers of the original Myst. We put a lot of effort into making this new version of Myst and would appreciate your financial support again!

Q: I want to play Myst, but am concerned about my computer not meeting the minimum requirements. What should I do?
A: If your machine does not meet the minimum requirements and you still want to try Myst out, we recommend enabling one of our supersampling options through the graphics settings menu to see if it alleviates performance concerns. Depending on the storefront you purchase Myst from, you may be able to qualify for a refund through the store (not through Cyan support) if Myst does not run well on your platform. Please review each store platform refund policy for details.

Q: Will Myst support [insert language here] one day?
A: Possibly! We’d love to hear from you through our support team about any languages you’d like for us to support.

OUTSTANDING! But not quite definitive

My first experience with Myst was in the early 2000's with Myst: Masterpiece Edition. Even as young as I was (<10) the game's mood and graphics were captivating. Those have stuck with me ever since. With every new contemporary version of Myst that comes out: RealMyst, RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition, and now this I keep on hoping for the definitive Myst experiance. The one with mood and atmosphere to match or even surpass the original, and is effortless to get running. This is SOOOO close to being that version but isn't. The graphics and visual aesthetic are fantastic, finally nailing that balance between modern realism and classic surrealism. The sound design is deeply immersive, the moment I stepped into Channelwood I could almost feel the humidity. It's all exactly how I hoped it would be. but then I saw Atrus's message to Cathrine and began wondering how such a slick expensive looking production would find it ok to replace outstanding FMV with cgi on par with a mid 2000's kids animated tv show. Then it started to bother me that there was no point and click navigation option. Then I found out Rime wasn't included. It started to feel like death by a thousand cuts, but luckly there weren't a thousand, only those few really, and a few other extremely minor things I would have preferred that were in other versions of the game. All in all this is almost the definitive version of Myst that I crave, so close I can almost taste it. It's still HIGHLY recommended for Myst fans and newcomers alike, and this will absolutly be the version I most recommend to newcomers, but I'll keep an install of that original Masterpiece Edition for when I feel the urge to wonder the island and it's ages again.

A little disappointing...

Pro's: - Graphics are great! - VR for those who have it! Con's: - Classic FMV characters replaced by awful CGI ones - No day / night cycle for the ages - Less objects and overall decoration in rooms (likely due to VR) - No Rime (I don't like Rime anyway, but others will consider this a negative) I only have Playstation VR, so I can't play this game in VR on my computer. Honestly, I still prefer realMYST: Masterpiece Edition. At least it has day/night cycles and FMV's.

Awesome idea! Now please remake Riven!!

If you've played Myst before, it's another good, more beautiful than ever, version. 2 biggest praises I can give to this apart from graphics are: - VR integration (because Myst series begs for it) - accessibility options (finally, you don't have to suffer through piano puzzle if you don't have good pitch recognition). Some things you might not love: - no point-and click movement (allthough it'll probably be added) - CGI caracters, that are not looking too amazing (but I get it - can't exactly use old fmv in terrible resolution in a 4K VR game) - No Rime in the end, if you really care Other than that, it's exactly what it promises. But it's the original Myst. This game is a bit outdated by modern standards, and is mostly interesting from the historical standpoint. It sequel, Riven, is not outdated at all though! So even though I already own like 4 copies of original Myst, I've purchased this on release day and leaving this review as a request: polease, please do the same for Riven! That wil be amazing!

A magnificent remaster...but...

I must say that I am a old time fan of the game (even still have the original game bought in the 90's and only plays on Windows 3.1, that says a lot). The graphics are stunning and the small alterations here and there are pretty nice. The gameplay is fluid and the sense of exploration is definitely top notch! I only have one complaint though : the modeling of the characters is horrible. I know that the prime time of the FMV is long gone, but I expected the characters models to be as good as the environment ones. They just look like PS2 graphics from early 2000's, not from a recent game. Aside from that, I think this remaster is awesome and any fans of the original would love it!

Excellent, But Not Definitive

I really like it in a lot of ways. The additions and small changes were fun - I especially like that there's a Puzzle Randomizer available now. However, it has three main problems: -Day/night cycles have been removed -Rime is missing -The character models are disastrous If you're already a Myst fan and a Cyan supporter who wants to get a new take on the classic, this is a great buy and a lot of fun to add to your collection. If you're new to the franchise, though, I would direct you to the excellent realMyst Masterpiece (2014) instead.
