First, there was Moto Racer - an unforgettable, fast-paced and thoroughly satisfying racing game. Then Moto Racer 2 came, took everything that was great about its predecessor and made it even better! The fun-factor is still there, stronger than ever, supplemented by all sorts of new stuff. You've got a wide range of tracks - a whopping 32 in total - you've got great third-person animations and a great first-person camera that lets you feel just how fast you're going. Last, but not least, the game comes with a track editor, giving it virtually infinite replayability. All this makes Moto Racer 2 one of the best arcade racers for the PC.
A broad range of tracks and motorcycles to choose from.
This is the same game as MR1 but only better. Prettier graphics, better sounds, more routes, different championships, challenging AI and much much more.
Let's get this out of the way first: for me, it worked right out of the box, no complaints there. I tried upping the resolution some but since it looked decent enough and it worked, I didn't bother.
I never played Moto Racer 2 back in the day, in fact, I didn't even know it existed, I only played the first game.
While MR1 was an intensely tight, satisfying and buttclenching arcade racer, it was a tad short on content - you could breeze through it in like an hour or two if you were half decent at the game.
THIS, however, is a bit more fleshed out. What I love about it is that they didn't change any of the features that made MR1 so good - the extremely responsive and tight controls, the relentless nature of races on Hard mode, the cheesy-but-infinitely-appropriate dad rock soundtrack, it's all there, there's just more maps, more modes, just more of everything. I like that they separated the MotoX and Street Championships and put a Mixed one after the first two, though you can play either of the three right from the get-go.
There's also an entirely separate "simulation" mode, but IMHO it's just "bad controls" mode. Let's face it - back in the late 90s racing sims weren't really very realistic, so I much MUCH prefer Arcade mode that is just pure, unadulterated, silly FUN. It's janky, chaotic and intense, as it should be.
There's not much more to say, really. I got it for 1.09€ on sale, which is the price of a fancy chocolate bar, and believe me, there ain't no fancy chocolate bar in the world to give you a rush like this game. I'm not a huge racing fan, but this
Technically the sequel is better, but the races are extremely boring. There are maybe 4-5 types of levels, and... that's it. If you played at least one, you basically played all of their variations. And the more you play the game, the more it starts to look and feel the same. Open the map editor and it becomes obvious what's going on. Maps are procedurally generated here, you can create new ones under a minute without any meaningful effort - while the first game had handcrafted and unique ones. That might not sound a hugh difference, but trust me it is.
If you just want to press some keyboard keys and see a 3D motorcycle doing stuff, Moto Racer 2 is completely fine though.
It's basically enhanced original. You have more tracks a bit different handling and it's still fun.
If you liked the original then you won't be dissappointed.
Usually I don't like writing reviews, but this game is such a blast from the past. I have installed it few minutes ago and I cant put smile from my face . It brought such a great memories, memories where games were what they ment to be - FUN ! Don't care about graphic, don't care about anything, its just GREAT gamplay and great FUN . Cant wait my brother to come home so I can show him what gem I found , and of course to start racing each other :).
I recommend this game to everyone who like racing games and of course its highly recommended to everyone who like to relax and sit and enjoy .
