Murder on the Orient Express

Moses & Plato – Last Train to Clawville is a charming point-and-click detective adventure that clearly draws inspiration from classic mystery stories in the vein of Murder on the Orient Express. Set in a world of anthropomorphic animal characters, the game delivers a cozy yet engaging narrative experience that feels both familiar and refreshing. Even though this title is part of a larger universe, it works perfectly well as a standalone experience. As someone new to the series, I never felt lost—on the contrary, the game does an excellent job of introducing its world and characters in a natural and inviting way. At its core, the game shines through its writing. The characters are well-developed and memorable, and the story unfolds at a comfortable pace that makes it easy to sink into the atmosphere. Rather than relying on high tension or constant twists, the game focuses on creating a warm, immersive detective story. One of the standout features is its investigation system. Players can analyze clues through different senses—smells, sounds, and visual details—which adds a unique layer to the gameplay. On top of that, the deduction system allows you to connect relationships between suspects and key figures, giving you a genuine sense of piecing together a case. This research tool is particularly satisfying, as it truly makes you feel like a detective rather than just following a linear path. Visually, the game is very appealing. It uses 3D graphics with a cel-shaded style that resembles a 2D comic book. This artistic choice works wonderfully, especially within the train setting. While it may look like a traditional point-and-click game at first glance, movement through the environment sometimes feels reminiscent of a dungeon crawler, thanks to its fully realized 3D spaces. The voice acting, while not present in every single line, is of high quality overall. Notably, Devora Wilde—known from roles in titles like Baldur’s Gate 3—can be recognized here. The rest of the cast also delivers convincing performances, contributing significantly to the game’s atmosphere. Overall, Moses & Plato – Last Train to Clawville offers a very enjoyable and well-rounded experience. With its engaging mechanics, strong writing, and distinctive visual style, it’s a great choice for anyone looking for a relaxed yet rewarding detective story.

Exciting universe

This review is subjective. I really love the universe of World of Wilderness! This game shows more of it, introducing well written characters with unique cultures, backstories and beliefs and showing a couple of interesting places mainly the luxiorious Clawville Express. World building is in my opinion the strongest side of this game. Beautiful artstyle helps with presenting it. I liked voice acting and music, however not every line is voiced and there is not a lot of different music tracks. Story I would say is mainly used as a device to present characters and world. It is there, but It's nothing extraordinary. Gameplay is very simple. You talk with few persons before key event commences, then you try to piece information together in your mind's garden. This garden is your hub to learn about world of wilderness and events taking place in it, to recall clues you have collected, and to link characters relations to one another. You can on occasion investigate some people. You also have inventory that stores various items to interact with. You can feel that this is an indie title. It's very simple, there is not a lot of depth to it. If you like lore and world building, and you aren't afraid of reading a lot, then you will most likely enjoy this game. And if you liked it, then know that there are other titles set in the same universe, and I rocommend playing them also.

Charming but inconsistent voicing

The game is charming, with a solid detective-mystery story reminiscent of 'Murder on the Orient Express', set in the Wilderness universe populated by various animal species. Visually, the game is very appealing, and the animal characters are well-developed and fun. The game-play revolves around finding and solving clues using collected facts, along with three senses: smell, sight, and hearing. There are also some mini-puzzles, which offer a moderate level of difficulty. There is about 11-12 hours of gameplay, which is about the average length. The voice acting is very good when present, but for some unknown reason — possibly a glitch — nearly a third of the lines are inaudible, which significantly detracts from the overall experience. I hope this will be fixed in a future update.
