Beautiful art, frustrating gameplay

I love the art style but I gave up playing (read: trying to play) the game quite quickly. There's very little logic and explanation to why (or how) you need to click/interact with objects - and even worse, often (especially when navigating your bug) you need to keep clicking the same spot before the desired action happens. Then you get stuck in a middle of a "puzzle" that has so bad mechanics you can't tell if nothing happens (after 5 minutes of clicking on every possible "active" object) because you're missing something or because the game sort of crashed (the latter option looking more likely since you can't even quit at that moment without Task Manager!). I'm sorry but I feel too old for this. If you want a brilliant exploration game set into quirky, colorful, unique setting, minus the frustration, just play Botanicula instead... Morphopolis could have been a really nice relaxing game - unfortunatelly, due to terrible programming, it just isn't. What a shame.

A distraction

Morphopolis is simply a distraction for an hour or two, with an interesting visual style, but nothing beyond that. All you really have to do is search for hidden objects, followed by a puzzle you have to solve, rinse and repeat. Puzzles aren't very interesting, and seem to be of the trial and error variety, and the only difficulty they possess is trying to figure out what the rules are - what goal you're trying to achieve. As for the hidden objects, most of those you notice straight away by moving around the level, long before being tasked with finding them. The only difficulty arises from just how slow your character walks. There isn't any plot, nor anything of note happening in any of the levels, nor is there any ending - the game just ends after five levels, and felt like it could continue for twenty more. Not a bad game, but not very memorable either.

Peace of art with clunky control

I bought this game because he was looking like no other game i played or seen. From that point of view wasn't disappointed. The gameplay is simple, it is a point-and-click where you have to found stuff hidden in the screen. What you need is a good sense of observation beause there is a lot of details and colors. There is also puzzles to solve that aren't complicated if you take your time to think. The sound design is great. The story is thin and explain the title of the game. There is 5 level and it took about to hours to finish. The weak part of the this is the maniability. You need to hold your click and drag to move, so sometimes it's hard to know what to do or where you can go. The dev choose a minimalistic interface to make you enjoy the game and the art, but the consequences are that sometimes you're lost. Another weak point is the end. It's to abrupt and you're like "wait this is the end ?". A really unique game with a basic gameplay not that intuitive. Shor and cheap, you should try it if you're not afraid of bugs.

Stunning wee gem of a game

Very immersive, relaxing and satisfying game. Different from other HOGs I've played. Quite short but worth the price. I loved the very slow pace and the slightly frustrating gameplay. The occasional struggle to move is humbling and calls for respect and consideration of the environment. Audio is wonderful (headphones recommended). Gameplay wise I had to perservere during the first few minutes and then it became second nature. Worst case scenario there is a hint button. It's a 1 player game but I enjoyed playing with someone by my side, which was hepful for some of the puzzles which I found difficult (don't remember an option to skip). I'd buy a sequel if it were to be made.

9 stages of grief

1. I can't turn off the music. That automatically angers me. 2. Okay, fine, I spent the money, so I'll still give it a chance. Oh look, it wants me to click there and drag there to move the caterpillar. 3. Annoying music is still playing. 4. I moved the damn caterpillar. Why is it still telling me to click there? I'm already clicking there, stop telling me! 5. I'll turn up Spotify and try to drown out Morphopolis noise. 6. What the ... I'm clicking exactly where the hint says to click! Nothing is changing and the hint won't go away! 7. WHAT KIND OF GOD WOULD FAIL TO SMITE WHOEVER INFLICTED THIS MUSIC ON ME 8. I never knew it was possible to hate a game this much 9. It's time to write a review
