Not worth the money

Was a KS backer and had very high hopes for this game. Not so. The entire game (as the previous reviewer stated) lasts 15-45 minutes. While there's nothing wrong with a short game, this one breaks down quickly once you realise you're playing the *exact* same game every single time. *spoiler alert* You show up at a village, the moon fails to appear, you wander around the same random levels for 10 minutes, then fight the exact same boss every time. You have no affect on the story and nothing ever changes. Sure you can unlock things but frankly, it gets old very fast, playing the exact same story with marginal text and graphics alterations. It's certainly not the "endless replay" and "every playthrough will be unique" game that was promised or desired. It certainly doesn't get more challenging either.

Not as bad as the first review pointed

I know reviews supossed to give you an overall idea of the game, and I went to this game biased for the first review (That game this game one star), but is not bad at all. This game is a roguelike. Like the Binding of Issac. You play and you do a run on the game, unlocking new abilities and things. Then the run ends (Or you die) and you try again with those new. Everything you do (or don't) on your playtrough give you more lore about the game (which can be quite confusing at the begginning of the game) and eventually your characters and actions shape constalations. It's a really good game for some quick runs, and really fun (like the Binding of Issac)

Port Forwarding Hunters

Great art, music, and overall feel of the title. Everything is built in a unique and well produced pixel-art style, that doesn't feel tacky or "overdone". The sound design is great and deserves it's proper praise. Full review Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHmnC7xlc1k Replayability is obviously the name of the game, and with short runs of 15 minutes to an hour or two, it has that in troves, with every run unlocking a new character, starting point, tidbit of the world, and so on... truly making you feel like your progressing overall, even if you are replaying the same "5 days" in-game time. Where the game tries to differentiate itself is it's co-op, with a 4 player couch co-op and a online co-op as well. the main problems are in the online co-op. With the local co-op working fine, if you're releasing on PC... you need online play. and the games online co-op is pretty much broken... and while the devs are calling it "Beta"... the reality is that they are releasing the game and one of the main ways to play with friends (who uses couch co-op on a PC?) ...barely works. disconnects, crashes, port forwarding ... even a LAN game on Hamachi could barely function and we lost several saves and had to restart from scratch. Performance... is also troublesome, and that's a shame in regards to the game because everything looks and feels so great, so when a GTX780 cant hold 60FPS in a 2d Pixel game. So... view the video for in dept information where this textual bit skips over a ton of in dept points.

Good concept, bad execution

The game concept as pitched by the developers clashes with the actual outcome of the game. Choices, encounters and outcomes feel meaningless and shallow in the overall heavy presence of the RNG mechanic who takes away any kind of interest in replaying the same content with minimal to irrelevant different results. The basic gameplay mechanic your facing will be randomly leveling a character, in the same short endless repeating Groundhog Day pattern, and hope to reach the same endboss with a well developed character. Repeat until your satisfied and then choose the hero and engage in horde mode against waves of mobs until the final boss decides to go full bullet hell mode and suck the last drop of enjoyment out of the game. Thats what basically this title is, behind its beautiful pixel art graphic and great music. Good concept, bad execution.

Short, enjoyable experience

This game was obviously made with effort and love! It is true that you won't be spending 40 hours in this game, but I had fun with it for about 12 hours which is fine for a $10 game (price may vary for others)! This game has fun roleplay and character development mechanics. Although, I found it frustrating that certain events could only be triggered with certain character traits (ex. "Only a foolish person would tamper with this"). It seemed like a cool idea, but got frustrating when I could never find those events when I finally had the proper traits. I would have preferred if events just played out differently depending on your character. Soundtrack is simple, but enjoyable and never felt repetitive. Art style is really great and the random generation flows nicely! Easy to jump in and start a game which is refreshing. Overall enjoyable experience, but not something that I will rave about for months. In my opinion worth a try if you've got the money.
