Fun game so far. Bought it to play with my son. I can confirm that there is a 2 player mode, but the main campaign type play where you unlock things is only single player. There is little unlocked at first, so prepare to spend some time unlocking all the stuff your kid will want.
My Little one hounded me for this and its sequel for a while. We have not reached 2 yet, but this one has been a heap of fun. controls lend themselves to two players sharing a single player experience. (kid on steering, parent on throttle, etc.)
Feels sufficiently "Monster Truck-y" without feeling too arcade-y. Some collectables for completionists, an expanding world map with unlockable/upgradeable trucks. We are not really a racing game family, but everyone's digging it. Wife likes doing donuts.
Nothing Permanently missable, as far as I can tell.
We got both games and all DLC on sale, but even at full price, I wouldn't have felt burned.
Ay plus! A+
I played the game for good, once. Few days ago I decided to stream it over the however many days it would take to complete it. ( www.twitch.tv/trusteft/ )
The driving takes a bit to get used to in races, but eventually I got the hang of it. I liked it and enjoyed the racing parts. My main problem with it is the problem I have with other racing games which have tiered/locked "career" behind events which have nothing to do with actual racing. For example Drity Showdown. There are events in this game where you have to do certain things, acrobatics, with your vehicle. At that point the vehicle not only controls different, but it feels like physics don't apply to it.
I finished the first cup, but approaching the end of the second cup (few hours in the stream) I just was not having any fun with these events.
Give me racing, but don't force me to "jump through hoops" to play the rest of the game.
I have no doubt if they weren't there or at at the very least if I could continue the cup(s) without having to win these events, I would give the game at least a 4/5. The game can be fun, but as it is, not for me.
- Language can neither be switched in-game, nor is there a "language-setup.exe" in the installation folder
- Non-XBox-controllers are not supported
- Game looks crappy even on high settings
- Very consoley look&feel
