Good Game and unusual RPG

Might & Magic VIII is a verery good game, most bad reviews of the time came from its totally outdated graphics, but in fact I think it's combination of 3D & Sprites nowadays makes it age slower than other pure 3D games. It's a bit of a departure to previous installements, as you only create your main character, all the others must be recrouted en route. What makes M&M VIII so unique is the fact that most of the Hero Classes in this game are generally used as villains or at least ennemies in other games, only the Cleric & the Knight are retourning Hero Figures. The others are the Necromancer, Vampire, Minotaur, Troll, Dark Elf & ultimately the Dragon (!), wich is also the only Class you can't create right from the start. As always in the series created by NWC you'll also need to play the other games of the series to fully comprehend the backstory since it has tie-ins with its 2 predecessors as well as HoMM 3& 4 Pros: Very unusual Heroes Nice story which crosses over with the other M&M titles for newbies: easier at the beginning than the other installements Cons: Busted hero Classes: The dark Elf and the Dragon are Way to strong while the Mintaur and especially the Vampire are way to weak Might be too easy for experienced M&M players Recycled Arcomage Quest (although the Arcomage game itself is quite fun to play)

might and magic 8

really cool game if you are patient and ;like turn based adventure. when i learned i could transform into a lich i was pumped. when i did the quest to achieve this goal i was godlike in this game. imploding ancient wyrms at will was my reward. if you have some time on your hands you will not be disappointed.

Might and Magic VIII

I had played all of the games in the series to come before this, which I loved, so when I got to play this one it was with an "at last, another installment" attitude. I really wish the game was longer, and harder. Ideally, it should have a couple difficulty settings to choose from, like 4+5 had. This game is great, but if you really know how to play Might and Magic it's likely to be very easy. The soundtrack is superb, maybe the best of the series, and the engine runs the best between 6-8. The mapping notes is really well done, with you being able to type in your own notes on top of great notes the game gives you. The game has a lot of replayability, more than you'd expect even from this series in fact. This is because you make only one character, so you will naturally wonder what it would be like to play it with a different one, again and again. In as far as the difficulty goes, because it's easy (after you get good at it), you can more reasonably play it with a small party. You control the difficulty, thus. The story and the locales are very enjoyable, with several interesting towns and the elemental planes have their own levels with dungeons.

An awesome addition to the series

Might and Magic 8 is the first in the series I've ever played and is very similar to M&M 6 and M&M 7 both graphically and gameplay wise. Just like those games the beginning of every adventure is very difficult and at some point after class and skill upgrades tips over to the easy side. M&M 8 is unique in the way that you start off with only one character. Your team mates you can pick up during the quest and switch out if needed. The class/race system is fully removed, but in return you get awesome character choices, like dragons, minotaurs and vampires (back when they were cool). I cannot recall the story (I played it 10 years ago), but the upgrade quests are excellent. I can distinctly recall the quest where you had to retrieve the Lich jar to upgrade your Necromancers to Liches. Good times. :) If you like RPG's and grand adventures, this deserves your attention.

Great game

Probablz my favorite from the serie. I know majority of people prefer VII or VI, but in my opinion this one is the best. Definitly could recomend to any fan of RPG. The fighting system is fun, the music amazing and the graphic while old has a charm. The weakest part is the story.
