An often overlooked classic

Might and Magic is a classic RPG series with a unique history and worlds that reached a pinnacle of greatness in Might and Magic VII. The gameplay and engine are almost identical to those in Might and Magic VI, but with the refinements of experience and time. The graphics are improved, the turn-based combat allows you to move now, the story branches based on your decisions...the list goes on. It maintains the belief of letting you go wherever you want, whenever you want. The only person deciding when you are ready for an area is yourself. The expanded skill system with Grandmaster levels for all skills and revamped spell system contribute to more guided character development without removing your freedom of choice. With huge maps, countless dungeons and side quests, abundance of creature types, and a main quest line to make your characters feel truly epic in the end, the game does not disappoint with content. Might and Magic VII is easily the best game in the series.

I can't explain why I love this so much

..but I really do. Every few years I install it and play it through. And I enjoy every minute of it, despite I still remember the quests, trainer locations, even the dungeon maps and secret doors. Maybe because it is an RPG in the same setting and time as HoMM3, with the same monsters you've commanded in it. Maybe because this was one of the first games I've played 20 years ago. Maybe because of the flight, invisibility and other cool spells. Maybe because there is 9 classes for a party of group and you have to decide between the good and evil side, so no playthrough is exactly the same. Or maybe because its simple, pure fun: you create a party of four, go out, kill monsters and complete quests. Just four advices: - Buy the game - Install the unofficial GrayFace patch - Kill the red dragon on Emerald Islands on level5. Yeah, it is possible and it isn't even really hard, and you can arrive in Harmondale with relics or even better stuff. - Experiment: solo the game with a knight, create a party of 4 liches, anything you can think of.

NOT JUST NOSTALGIA...

This statement is not to excess, THIS IS MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME, and my savior I have played a lot of em. If there were something to compare to it, that would be current Elder Scrolls games but with more party members and carbon dated graphics. However that takes nothing away from this game at all, in fact in some ways its better than Oblivion and Skyrim. Words escape me. The Mandate of Heaven (M&M6) was the first masterpeice and this comes in even better by strategicaly besting every other M&M and their mechinery. THIS GAME FITS INTO THE SWEETEST TOP SPOT IN RPG HISTORY FOR A SINGLE PLAYER GAME. I KNOW MANY GREATS EXIST BUT THIS HOOKED ME TO RPG ADVENTURE FOR LIFE. DO YOURSELF THE BIGGEST FAVOR YOU EVER HAVE AND START PLAYING SO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW RIGHT THIS GAME REALLY IS. BLESS GOG AND ITS CREATORS FOR ALLOWING THIS TO BE POSSIBLE.

They dont make them like this anymore...

I recently finished playing through Dragon Age 2, im planning on doing maybe one or two more playthroughs of that game, and after that I probably will never return to it again. MM7 however, just keeps drawing me back, I cant even count how many times I have played through this game but at one point I could remember by heart where every single skill trainer and quest giver was located! The real beauty of this game is that it somehow seems to create perfect balance and mixture between all the elements that make for a good RPG, where certain other RPGs sometimes has problems in excess travel time, wierd balancing of quest composition, random overly long conversations etc. etc. etc. MM7 masterfully balances almost every single element to create an amazing flow in the gameplay. Storytelling, action, exploration, dungeon crawling, character improvement, everything is balanced and everything flows naturally. From the second you start the game draws you in and you will want to keep playing it, again and again and again. I already have this game on CD, but im buying it from GoG just the same (as I have done with other games before), because if any game was ever worth the extra money, its MM7!

Wow

This was the game that got me into the whole Might & Magic universe. It has a pretty rough start but turns increasingly rewarding as you progress through the game and discover just how many options the game offers you. Be good or evil, fight turn-based or real time and ally yourself with different nations for a different story with each playthrough. It probably helps to know that the game features all the magical monsters and creatures from the legendary Heroes of Might & Magic 3, if you ever wanted to experience that realm up close and personal. Highly recommended for any RPG fan, especially if you want one of the best experiences that this series has to offer on your first go!
