Not a bite sized adventure this time. This follow up to The Nanny is instead a linear visual story, that seems to gradually change theme from horror to gay romance, allowing for very little interactivity. The result is unfortunately awkward and boring.
Really liked this game.
It doesn't have branching storylines or much in the way of puzzles really, but the story is quite interesting with a couple of twists along the way and given the length of the game, the characters are well fleshed out.
It is a follow up to 'Midnight Scenes: The Nanny' so it may be best to finish that game first to get the most out of this one, though it isn't necessary (but that previous game is also good and in the same vein so why not?).
If you want deep engaging gameplay, you might want to play another game, but if you want a good linear horror story that is not just some rehash of classic horror tropes with plenty of human moments and some interactive elements (that give some engagement, but don't impact the plot), then look no further. This game is for you.
For an inexpensive short budget story-driven horror game created mostly by one person, it is hard to ask for more really. This game will give you strong entertainment value, both for your time and money investment.
The story seems simple at first, until you see the link with the previous story (The Nanny). And then it's a story in which we become even more invested, knowing that we've followed these protagonists before. And the spooky music... I even bought it! :)
Its the most technically complex and packed and yet it has the weakest story. It continues from "The Nanny" which breaks the anthology nature of the series and yet it doesnt seem to matter that much because the story kind of handwaves stuff from it to focus on a gay romance with very stereotypical bully villains with no a hint of complexity.
Hopefully the next entry returns to its roots, no pun intended.
