Description

The Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is out now! The radical update which harnesses the power of Ray Tracing capable GPUs to deliver an incredible visual upgrade.

The Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is free for all existing owners of Metro Exodus on PC, but the upgrade is so extensive, it can not be delivered as a patch - instead, it is available as a separate entitlement. Upgrades include DLSS 2.0 Inclusion, Ray Traced Emissive Lighting used throughout, FOV slider, increased framerates and display resolutions. A Ray Tracing capable GPU is the minimum spec for this beast, and you can upgrade right now for free if you own Metro Exodus.

Please check here how to access Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on GOG.

The year is 2036.

A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro.

They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.

But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East.

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.

Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story in the greatest Metro adventure yet.

Features

  • Embark on an incredible journey - board the Aurora, a heavily modified steam locomotive, and join a handful of survivors as they search for a new life in the East
  • Experience Sandbox Survival - a gripping story links together classic Metro gameplay with new huge, non-linear levels
  • A beautiful, hostile world - discover the post-apocalyptic Russian wilderness, brought to life with stunning day / night cycles and dynamic weather
  • Deadly combat and stealth - scavenge and craft in the field to customize your arsenal of hand-made weaponry, and engage human and mutant foes in thrilling tactical combat
  • Your choices determine your comrades’ fate - not all your companions will survive the journey; your decisions have consequence in a gripping storyline that offers massive re-playability
  • The ultimate in atmosphere and immersion - a flickering candle in the darkness; a ragged gasp as your gasmask frosts over; the howl of a mutant on the night wind - Metro will immerse and terrify you like no other game…

epic singleplayer campaign

If you grew up during the golden age of gaming in the late 90s/early 2000s and you love great single player shooters with lengthy and enjoyable campaigns then this game is a rare treat for you. The campaign takes me about 10-12 hours to play through.

Great story questionable mechanics

I had some problems with the game freezing my entire PC, hard lock, requiring a forced restart via power button, but I switched to DX 11 and it seemed to fix it (Luck?) The story and characters carry this game. All of the characters are good, and you can have them tell you random backstory stuff throughout the game which really adds to the atmosphere. The story is also good, with an ending sequence that is satisfying (at least with the good ending). The gameplay on the other hand is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good othertimes its rage inducing. Enemies are often bullet sponges if you don't get a headshot (which is always bad imo) but the enemies move irratically and often move like they can sense where you're aiming, combine this with random bullet deviation and sometimes you'll just miss every shot even if you were aiming perfectly centered every shot. This is annoying and not fun. The weapons get dirty a little too fast, and having to charge your flashlight manually gets old pretty quick as well. There are also certain enemies that are just bullet sponges for a fake difficulty boost, which I also hate. But outside of that, movement feels pretty good, when the game actually lets you hit stuff the impact of the shots feels legitimate, the stealth is solid. So the gameplay is mixed good and bad. Some enemies I feel were designed just to be annoying as well, with wierd mechanics that make it impossible to not take at least some damage, its poor game design imo, but... The story and characters make it worth dealing with the nonense.

Metro Without the Metro

You can't make a Metro game without the Metro and still call it Metro. It's amazing how far they went in completely forsaking the core lore of the franchise. Remember the Dark Ones that were the central focus of the two previous games? Well, you can forget about them because they're not here. They don't even matter! Remember the Metro's mysteries, the supernatural creatures, and the amazing lore that was being built around them? Well, you can forget about that too because it's not mentioned here. It's not even remotely touched upon. This is just another "survival after the apocalypse" game. You could have called it Mad Max and it would have amounted to the same thing. They inherited such a creative and richly potential world storyline, and they dumped it for cannibals and pseudo-zombies. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fine game, but they really killed its more interesting aspects. It feels like a watered-down version. Not to mention the special atmosphere of those solitary journeys through the Metro's tunnels, a feeling you'll never experience in this game. The open world aspect doesn't mesh well with the Metro franchise because it ends up being the worst of both worlds: You have the linear game mechanics of corridor games, but combined with the openness of an open world where there's nothing particular you have to do (there are small details, scenes, and dialogue scattered here and there, but nothing really interesting). Worth mentioning: 1) I experienced MULTIPLE game-breaking bugs, forcing me to reload earlier saves. 2) The ending is clearly rushed and abruptly ending, they were probably running out of money. 3) At under $10, this is still very much worth the purchase, but it's a disappointment for fans of the Metro world like me.

Mertro Exodus

Game doesn't hold back. Gives you exaclty what you want from a metro title. Little bit stalker, little bit imsim, little bit action shooter, lotta bit Lovely Wife Simulator. Story is compelling and the gameplay loop is addicting.
