Description

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the Earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside. You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond the city limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat.

Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind. But what if the real threat comes from within?

Metro 2033 Redux is the definitive version of the cult classic ‘Metro 2033’, rebuilt in the latest and greatest iteration of the 4A Engine for Next Gen. Fans of the original game will find the unique world of Metro transformed with incredible lighting, physics and dynamic weather effects. Newcomers will get the chance to experience one of the finest story-driven shooters of all time; an epic adventure combining gripping survival horror, exploration and tactical combat and stealth.

All the gameplay improvements and features from the acclaimed sequel ‘Metro: Last Light’ have been transferred to Metro 2033 Redux – superior AI, controls, animation, weapon handling and many more – to create a thrilling experience for newcomers and veterans alike. Awesomely fun alternative to COD

I love COD. I love the set pieces, many of the stories and characters, and the short feeling of badassness that marks most COD campaigns. Where COD falters is when it tries to add substantially more gun play than usual. It just feels repetitive and a little boring compared to the more cinematic sections. Metro 2033 succeeds where COD fails. Metro makes several improvements to COD's story driven formula. It solves the boring human enemy problem by introducing additional mutant enemies with different behavior. It further spices up the basic gameplay by adding horror and survival elements to its shooter framework. It expands on shooting mechanic by adding pneumatic guns that you have to manually pump and modifications that make drastic changes to the guns beyond some some token stat difference. And these unusual guns and modifications look and feel right. Finally, although its campaign is completely linear, Metro has missions that take place in friendly settlements where you could trade with merchants, practice your shooting, listen to the banter of regular folks, and get mugged by a hooker and her posse. These nice little touches add variety to Metro's campaign so that I never sighed in exasperation at "this again?" That is not to say Metro 2033 doesn't have problems. It's AI can be downright stupid. I once set off an explosion not 10 meters from an AI sitting at a camp fire, killed his buddy in the process, and the AI just blissfully continued staring at the camp fire. There are no masterful set pieces or scripted missions like those in the original Modern Warfare trilogy. The environment begins to blend together after looking at only Moscow's snowy ruin and metro system for the whole campaign. Once you are done with the campaign. That's it. These issues shouldn't be dismissed. However, there is a lot of fun to be had while the ride lasts. Oh, there is very little QTE, only a handful of pressing E for a few seconds.

Masterpiece but I lost my revolver

It could be I was in the mood for a shooter, cause I enjoyed it greatly. Easily one of the greatest games I have ever played. The immersion, voice acting (English), the world, the sound effects hit in the right places. The gunplay is fine and I'm upset that towards the end they replaced one of my guns, an upgraded silenced revolver with another gun. U dont do that, even if the new gun was better. Let me carry 4 guns. Hold R to reload the pneumatic guns, I had to search the internet for how to do it. Also hold G to remove the mask.

Might as well be a VN

The opening hour of this action/survival horror game includes a few minutes of action and no horror or struggle to survive in multiple scripted battles where you are handed all of the equipment you need beforehand. Other than those few attempts at excitement, you wander around uninteresting dark brown settings and get knocked out and woken up repeatedly for story progression.

Audio cuts out for 2 seconds

The game does actually launch and allow me to play it unlike the last bunch of games on GOG (SF Alpha 2, Mortal Kombat 1, 2, & 3, few other games but I will not refund because I love the idea of DRM free games that we own!) However, the audio cuts out for 2 seconds every 10 seconds. Unplayable like that. My sound works perfectly fine using: -Brave browser watching youtube videos, Amazon Music, Amazon Prime -Audio playback in Davinici Resolve, -League of Legends -Guild Wars 2 -7 Days to Die -Dark and Light

Thrill ride.

My 1st exp with this series was actually the second game Last Light. That was a blessing and a curse, A curse because I knew the rough plot of the game already. The blessing was I understood the game mechanics already. This game gives you very little help along the way, most things are never explained. I also felt the dialog and story telling was not as good as last light. I swear it felt like 3 people voiced this entire game.. and if you played Last Light you'll cringe every time you hear Pavel coming out of another NPC in this game. You'll also hear multiple NPC's having the same dialog which was kinda disappointing. Eh.. it also made me realize how many reused assets last light had. So they was probably able to devote a lot more time to things like voice over dialog in LL. I also felt this game was not as long as last light and was actually over too quickly. However it definitely delivers on the action and I genuinely jumped in my seat a few times. The level designs were interesting although sometimes confusing as you'd come to forks, not knowing which way to go but almost always lead to the same path this might not seem worth mentioning but the game has a tendency to create one way travel where you can't back track so this was frustrating at times. Which is better you might ask me.. I'll say neither.. 2033 and Last Light are like bowls of soup from the same pot but seasoned differently. The auto save system just like in last light makes me want to write angry letters to the dev team. However, setting all that aside, it's a great game if you like action/horror and it blends really well with the 2nd game, so you can play them back to back and it feels like it's one seamless story. Now.. on to Exodus!
