Unfair luck-based game

This Game is one of the unfaires games I've ever played. The AI isn't really challenging or clevery. All they do most of the time is taking cover and shoot. They usually don't hit the player even they shooting you. BUT once your are hit it seems every next shot hits you. It's like a switch had been thrown. Sometime you can walk all over an open area without being hurt. When replaying the same area (because you've been killed near the objective at latest) you can't do a step without being shot by two or three hits. In the jungle missions, the enemies spawn most of the time behind the thicket which is not visible or shootable for the player. For AI it is! They start shooting before you can see or kill them. First when they come out of the thicket you can defend yourself. In the urban missions enemies sometimes can shoot through walls if they are close enough to the wall. Another curiosity: The game kills you very fast or instantly if you try to take a way which is not (yet) intended for the player. Expample: The mission objective says attack the hill straightforward. As soon as you walk slightly from the path you die. These limitations aren't always recognizable for the player. You will die by not assignable enemy fire. Or: It happens that you instantly get damage by attacking enemies after a cutscene. What makes the game much more frustrating are the rarely set autosaves. You had a hard fight through a map section and have to repeat it because of the unfair game mechanics. Other parts of game are as well not good. The "plot" appears artificial emotional and the documantation parts (historical narrative) between the missions seems to be so far as is actually correct, but from its portrayment, pathetic and very partial. The audio quality ist moderate. All weapons sound the same. The german synchronisation (e.g) is not convincing. The graphics are fine considering the time. But e.g. the older "Vietcong" I remember more beautiful. The controls are simple but sluggish.

Has some frustrating flaws

So, I've just finished the game and I really have to say, as a lot of others already did: The Gameplay is easily frustratig. Then Handling of the Guns is a bit weird although you get used to it in the end. You can't move while aiming (you can only lean) and also don't have ironsights but it zooms in a bit. What I liked about the game was the tactical aspect. You really could finish every mission without having to use cheats by thinking about where to get cover, when to shoot, how to walk..... You die quite fast if you don't think this way, it's not a run-and-gun game at all. Still health often isn't a great issue as you can replenish it by looting corpses of dead enemies that mostly have medipacks or drinkbottles with them, I often could recover from next to no Health to full health in Normal Difficutly this way. It's a matter of luck though as you have to hope for a medipack in this case and not just bottles. Jungle Warfare naturally comes with a lot of foliage, trees, bushes and so on. But it's annoying if enemies can somehow see through it while you can't do that yourself. Gladly, there aren't a lot of these passages in the game but those passages really are frustrating. Adding that in some locations, unless you reach a certain point, there's a constant flow of enemy soldiers that really makes the game unnecessarily hard and as well frustrating. Adding once again that your teammates are quite braindead. Don't expect much help from them, they miss about every shot, they're just following you around, about everything needs to be done by yourself. Sometimes enemies and teammates stand in front of each other, just centimeters away, and they just don't shoot. But as soon as you come around, you get gunned down by the enemy. "^^ Also the Checkpointsystem is horrible as sometimes there's a long distance in between them where a lot of stuff can happen. A quicksave-system would have been a good idea. It's by far not as good as MoH but it's alright as a Shooter. :)

Good Idea, Mediocre Execution

Pros: *Vietnam Era Setting Cons: *Some levels barely gives you ammo and you cannot get any weapons from the enemy, glitch or poor design *Healing system takes too long *Easy is not Easy *Manual Looting of Enemies is annoying and takes away from gameplay Honest, its just a medicore version of Medal of Honor games but in Vietnam

Frustrating, Hard, OKish

fps shooter game to play. have widows 10 64 bit installed and works fine. Graphics are ok. Sounds are ok. For some reason when i start the game, i can't see the intro movie part, just the sound. scripted but, not as bad as some others like brothers in arms*. its doesnt bother me but, the so called racial rants and swearing get pretty bad at times (cracker???). i agree with a lot that you travel in a tunnel/hall/corridor where you are slowely bled to death by the time you reach your final objective you better ration your ammo. the AI bot buddies are the most frustrating and hamper me that they become your worst enemy. get in your way, bump you straight out into the line of fire. try to move and they constantly get in your way. the friendly bots cant hit the side of a barn they let enemy walk right by them. find it next to if not impossible to complete some missions with out using a cheat. kinda unrealistic to go on a SUICIDE run to mark a target for artillary or air strike? zook the radio man who could just simply call the strike in after you place a target on the spot with say the bead of your rifle? sure they used smoke markers sometimes. but seemed a little unrealistic to me? idk? ya its fun to cap a few bots but, frustrating as heck to try and complete the mission. it just gets worse the closer you get to the objective when you been slowely bled to death and low on ammo. grenade launchers wont blow up huts or shooting towers? i have heard a lot of hype about the 'vietcong' game, if its harder than this game, dont think i want to play it. my biggest complaint are my AI bots!!! i will give this semi-enjoyable game a 3 star and it doesnt even deserve that.!! most of the time i find myself just trying to "SURVIVE" suppose thats about the real experience of a vietnam soldier?
