Two stories, two main characters, one epic experience: in Memoria, players travel through different time periods, while following two distinct protagonists: Sadja, a southern princess who wants to be a war hero, and Geron, a bird catcher who wants to lift a curse from his girlfriend. The game combines point & click gameplay with unique magic skills.
Sadja, a Southern princess, has an unstoppable desire to become the greatest hero in history – by joining and succeeding in the biggest war Aventuria has ever seen: The war of the Mages, fought in the middle of an uninhabitable desert.
Bird catcher Geron lives almost 450 years after the Great War. Geron’s eternal love, Nuri, has been turned into a crow by an evil curse. To give her back her human form, Geron needs the help of the mysterious merchant Fahi, who has magical powers. But Fahi is only willing to help Geron if he agrees to solve a puzzle which Fahi has seen in his dreams. The quest for answers soon leads to a chain of events that connects both Sadja's and Geron's stories, threatening to turn the present into a grim reflection of a long forgotten past.
Memoria combines classic point & click adventure gameplay with the features of The Dark Eye, one of the most successful RPG universes known in the fantasy world. Point & click adventure game puzzles get a unique twist by adding magical features – and a wise, talking staff. Over eight chapters, players control both Sadja’s and Geron’s fates, involuntarily interacting with each other and bridging over 500 years of time. Each chapter in Memoria features opulent graphics, epic locations, a thrilling fantasy crime story and a unique puzzle design that differs from chapter to chapter.

I'll start with the positives - the game is quite nice visually (except a few characters that look just weird) and ... well that's about it. It's probably the worst Daedalic game I've played so far (maybe apart from Deponia 4). The story just doesn't seem to make any sense whatsoever, and is told in a way that makes me not care about it at all. I'm on chapter 7 at the moment and I'm progressing just because I want to finish and uninstall it. Two stars rather than one only due to not bad art and an occasional humourous moment.
After playing it for a while understand why it is in sale for 1$.
CONS:
1. Both dialogues and monologues are super annoying all the time - It is like listening to 12years old having an endless argument.
2. Story is your predictable black/white boring *****. Overall I doubt that the authors have ever read a good book or seen some decent play.
3. All main characters are just repulsive with terrible voice acting! (When creating a game, one should perhaps spend some money on it.)
4. Mechanics of the "game" are bad since you will probably develop a carpal tunel syndrom from clicking million times - too many derived sub items, no easy way how to deactivate the current selected item, too many useless interaction points, other games have this solved much better.
5. Riddles are nothing special
PROS:
- good visuals although animations sometimes seem is a bit laggy
4+ stars is a joke on this game - I suggest to play some other titles since this is just a waste of time/money.
This is a German game, yet German is missing from the language list. If the list is correct, and I assume it is, this is absurd. The Steam version has it. I won't buy it without the original language.
What a horrible game... It starts of decently, and then just goes down hill at a high speed.
This is another game that is more about story telling than about solving puzzles. I did not even play it till the end. Some of the voice acting is so horrible that it hurts! The beautiful drawings only help to point out the terrible animations. Remember playing Dune? Well...
I am glad I bought when it was on discount - even Whispers of a Machine was better than this!
I didn't realise going in that this has the horrible character from the previous game that I'd rather strangle than play as. I don't care about saving the annoying Nuri, and would rather let her die.
Princess portions are great.
