A living simulation
Starting with just a few tanks and the most basic of livestock, you’ll grow your aquarium to a thronging metropolis filled with hundreds of guests, tens of staff and a multitude of different aquatic lifeforms, each with their own unique care requirements.
Design your exhibits
Megaquarium features almost 100 different marine species including fish, sharks, crustaceans, corals, jellyfish, other invertebrates and even a turtle! You’ll be spoilt for choice as you design, decorate and populate your tanks.The right staff for the job
You won’t get far without the right staff. Choose who to hire based on their skills and future potential. Will you train up a team of multi-disciplined staff or a set of super-focussed experts? You’ll have to weigh up the pros and cons of each strategy and work out what is right for your aquarium.
Research new animals and technology
As guests experience your displays you’ll earn points which you can assign to discovering new livestock and equipment. Keep upgrading and expanding your aquarium and work your way up to the most prestigious animals and displays in the aquarium industry.Manage your finances

Megaquarium is an fantastic tycoon title with a surprising amount of depth. With far more fish, crabs, sponges, and spiny blowfish than I could have expected, it goes further than the usual “set it and forget it” model that most tycoon titles use. The team continues to hammer away at improvements, so here's hoping that they can iron out the last few UI and tasking issues to make this one truly great.

One of my favourite games
I love the huge amount of customisation that is possible, from the aesthetics to the ability to micro-manage if you want to do that. The levels are fun, the challenges are interesting and achievable (my favourite was building an aquarium inside a fixed floor plan). Designing aquariums in this game is really enjoyable because you can take a first-person wander around your creation or just zoom in and enjoy the peaceful scene of your fish swimming around in one of your tanks. The available expansions have been really fun, too. Overall, an awesome game.

Worth every cent of your money
As a fan of park building games I've decided to give this a shot. Do not be put off by simplistic graphics: the game is quite pretty in its own way and delivers many hours of fun as you build and expand your aquarium. The mechanics are easy to learn and intuitive, there's almost no need to re-learn things when I come back to this title after a month or so of playing something else. Another positive thing is that the game has evolved since I've first bought it: some of the UI bugs had been fixed and utility modifications make managing your tanks easier. Expansion adds new mechanics - and things to learn. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this game to anyone who likes to build parks - or cities, for that matter. Runs smoothly on Catalina.
