Good "Smash Bros" alternative

It is most easily compared to the Nintendo “Smash Brothers” series in its gameplay. It is a platforming brawler, with hidden powerups, color options, and variety of enemies that keep it interesting for a while. The AI is generally mediocre, but the quantity of enemies evens out the difficulty as you progress through the game. The format of the stages is typical- Beat 3 generic lvls, then arena boss fight. Bosses are somewhat challenging. Multiplayer allows co-op mission mode arena battle . Co-op allows players to explore, find hidden objects, and get more customizing parts for your fighterbot. The arena battle allows you to knock the enemy/other players off the map, or to outright destroy them through damage. The highlight of this game is the Character customizations. You can swap out several- each fist, foot, shoulders, hip, head, etc. Each part also comes with a special ability, whether it’s a special move, more armor, or increase in speed. Each swapped part also changes the physical appearance of your fighterbot and is reflected in gameplay immediately. Physics and gameplay are nearly identical to smash bros, and is nearly flawless on gamepad. Overall, if you’ve wanted Smash Bros but do not own any of the systems it’s on, this is a solid alternative. It’s fun, and addicting, though can also be repetitive over time. Any fan of Smash Bros for gameplay/style will also love this game.

Ingenuity +

Many have probably came up with the idea themselves but here's the first it has been implemented where you can battle robots for their parts and some of those parts give different unique and abilities and several can be added at one time for various combinations of robotic warriors to meet the current situation at hand. Split screen local co-op allows your kid brother to run off tither and yon without dragging you along the screen with him. I've been a supporter since the beginning (I believe on Indivania) the developer not only pro-actively granted me a key for Desura upon Mega's release there he/she/they made sure early supporters were informed whenever there was a new update.

ok smash brothers clone

The adventure mode of this game interesting enough but over all the game play is like a inferior copy of any of the smash bros games. The several of the standard attack moves have poorly designed hit boxes meaning you will mostly use forward smash when attacking. Also, the way character customization you really have to sacrifice armor/speed/# of jumps/standard hit damage/ etc in order to fill all 4 special attack slots. Also many of the special attacks are quite similar so there isn't much point in switching around. In conclusion, it is an ok game but if you already have smash bros or it isn't on sale, I would not suggest spending 15 dollars on a clone game.

Customizable Smash Bros.

Other reviews cover what you probably already want to know but I can say Megabyte punch makes me less inclined to emulate Smash Bros. The single player campaign follows an understandable formula of 3 levels, boss, 3 levels, boss [cont]. For those of you that have played Smash Bros there are a few notable differences that make this game play unique. There is no dodging mechanic, the player relies on a shield which also works in the air. There are no "smash attacks" which encourages the player to rely on special moves for finishing. And you can build your own fighter with fine control over stats as well as move sets. I haven't finished the game yet but so far I would recommend it.

niche and refined

I remember when this game was a work-in-progress. At the time, I was way into Reptile Game's browser mingame, "Lethal League" (look up reptile-games.com). I saw the trailer and couldn't wait! It seems that the developers at Reptile love the older style platformers, with all the linear exploration, bosses at the end of every level, and always moving left to right to progress. That being said, they have taken these elements and made something really fresh for the new age. This game contains one of the few UI's where I gawked and said to myself, "wow, they spent a lot of thought on how this UI works." The controls are hugely similar to the Smash Bros. series, and feel just as good whenever you do anything at all. The art is also a big part of what feels good. All the animations are clean and believable. Whenever you land the equivalent of a falcon punch, you know you're a boss! The maps are large and deceptively linear. All and any deviations from the "main path" that you take are rewarded in some way, so always keep some sort of block destroying part on you! The lives are handled with mercy. There are a number of times where I was hugely disappointed to have to play the level over, but didn't because the game didn't detract my last life! I expect the developers played this game for countless hours and weeded out ANYTHING that spoiled the fun, because EVERYTHING in this game compels me to play it more.
