Become part of an Army Ranger team as you battle your way through enemy-infested towns, regain control of the Atlantic, and establish a beachhead as part of the D-Day invasion force on Omaha Beach in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Spearhead chronicles the last year of the war on the European front. Parachute behind enemy lines during Operation Overlord, halt the German offensive during the Battle of the Bulge, and engage the German forces as they desperately try to defend the heart of the Reich, Berlin. In Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Breakthrough, you’ll join U.S. Army Sergeant John Baker as fights in the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, race to capture Messina in Sicily, and finally repel the German army at the historic battle of Monte Battaglia in the heart of Italy.

Quick save/ quick load/ quick save...

I played this game when it was released and quite agreed with most of the critics, despite some frustrating sections (mostly the Siegfried Forest) and well...In fact this game is just plain frustration. First, if you didn't play the game for a while or just discover, don't do like me and avoid hard difficulty at all cost ! You won't get far... It's more bearable on normal, since you don't die in 3 shots and get more health packs, but what's make this game rage inducing is that, even if you are careful, you'll be killed by an enemy coming out of nowhere (you should check the resistance of your desk before doing the sniper village...) or because you have no clue of his location (except by charging and hoping to dodge enough bullets -though I don't think it works on hard-). Other frustrating moments includes escaping while facing infinite enemy waves (MINOR SPOILER : the best is the last mission where have to escape from acrumbling facility but still chased by enemy soldiers ! That's dedication...). Two stars are for the "stealth" missions and, of course, Michael Giacchino's score. Too bad, I was interested in doing some episodes of the series (mostly Pacific Assault and Airborne) but I think I should have stayed with the memories.

The Best WW2 FPS I've Played

MOH: Allied Assault is easily one of the most enjoyable FPS/Action games I've ever played. From the epic and creative opening scene depicting the Normandy Beach Invasion from Saving Private Ryan, to the reasonably challenging and hectic street firefights and corridor battles, this game never let's up. The game uses a modified version of the Quake III:Arena engine, has some excellent level design for its time, great scenarios, and a wonderfully dark, brown, old European atmosphere that makes it as bleak as it can be familiar. The War Chest has hours and hours of fun, as MOH:AA had two excellent expansions, although they (appropriately) deviated from the run-n-gun street fights of AA, involving more tank and air scenarios. This game always brings back great memories, as I've beaten it multiple times (it's length is perfect, not too long, not too short) and I remember every single level and detail of them. The multiplayer is quite fun despite the fact I don't play such games online much, but it was so good that it just doubles the entertainment value of it (Normandy Beach map!). The great location-based damage and realistic weapons from the time really make for tight action and perfect execution. Any fan of FPS/Action games must own this game, or else your life will continue to have a great, deep void.

It's fun until it isn't

For those who played this when it came out, you'll have a few hours worth of fun replaying through some memorable levels. I'd recommend it. However, as the game progresses, it really shows its age. The main issue is the enemy AI. You will repeatedly find yourself being killed by enemies who you cannot see (usually behind five bushes with no muzzle flash). This becomes very frustrating after a while. As many other reviews note, the Sniper Town mission is particularly annoying, as dying is not usually a result of a lack of skill, but rather needing to essentially learn a choreographed routine to progress through the map, which is not very organic. There seems to be around 50-100 active players in multiplayer at any given time (you need to download a third-party patch to access the serverlist - do so at your own risk). The populated servers are usually weird modes, or have weird mods. It might seem like it'll be fun nostalgia but it probably won't be.

Childhood memories reborn!

I remember playing this game as an elementary age kid with my best friend on his fathers PC which actually had a graphics card (gasp!). It was one of the most engaging and stunning games during the time. I recently decided to try out the game again on my own, years and years later, and I must say it's one of the better gaming experiences I've had in a long, long time. I cranked the difficulty up to hard from the get go, and yes I have died quite a few times. However, there is something about this game that makes me want to continue even when I die over and over. Don't question it, buy it. Seriously. It's awesome, especially if you're looking to revisit the game. 5/5 Stars from me. Better than I expected or remembered.
