Master of Orion 3

Ive read a lot of negative reviews on this site, and on gamefly.com where i first played moo3. "moo" is an excellent and ironic acronym for Masters Of Orion actually. Since to play it right you have to endlessly shovel data into your brain hole regardless of what you may think doesn't matter, because usually that one thing that "doesn't" matter will bite you hard later. but thats why its awesome, its a challenge. I wasn't around for the digital roach problem people seem to have. So i cant say.....although if you had bugs in a program in the early 2k era of gaming....they were almost assuredly devastating. the art style is star trek serious with that sci-fi whimsy of starship troopers. my recommendation: play on now that the bugs seem gone.

Master of Orion III is actually a good game, despite everyone who complains about it. It's not like it's the best game ever, but it's absolutely underrated. The main reason people hate it is that it is popular to hate it. But if you go into the game without any prior expectations, you will be surprised at the level of depth, complexity, and detail it has. I'll take its battles any day over I and II, and the universe certainly has a lot more depth to it than the previous games. It's actually a good game. People just don't like it because it isn't everything they wanted. I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed it every time I've played it. However, if you are turned off by a lot of micromanagement and menus, this game is not for you.

I bought MOO3 knowing it needed to be patched to be a good game. Since I got the fan patch installed it is a pretty fun game. I tried it before and it was a pretty hard to enjoy experience. Now it is way better and a lot less buggy. The interface is easier to navigate and the overall feel is much improved. Give it a chance. :)

Inferior in many ways to Master of Orion 2. Save your money and buy Master of Orion 2 instead.

Managed to play it on a Windows Emulator. The game definitely has a bad reputation, but the devs here have managed to do a good job fixing it up, I applaud, them, although, I'd like to see a Mac OS X version of the game, especially seeing that the new game coming out even has a Mac OS X 10.6.8 version. The game is enjoyable, I had the original, but lost it years ago, and this is a great leap in improvement, but Mac compatibility would be nice.
