Stick with MOO2.

Moo2 is the only old DOS game i still play (since 15 years). When Moo3 came out i was hyped, excited, and ready to play (back when it was released). But that enjoyment drained quickly after installing it. The UI is literally painfully clunky, the game takes many hours before you can get to a point of seeing any other races (only to see that they've expanded 5-10x faster than you), and it's just plain tedious. The only thing i liked about MOO3 was the space battles, but they're not worth sitting through the rest of it.

Would have to be paid to play this

As in, I would play this game if it was a job that I showed up for, sat down to play, and got paid for. I would hate myself and my life, but I would be getting paid and making a living. Occasionally I would glance over at the guys in accounting, jealous that they got to crunch numbers that made a real world difference.

Not a MOO game

I was thrilled to hear that MOO 3 was being made. I avidly watched all the development journals. My mother bought it for me as an early birthday present, pleased that she knew enough about what I was excited about to come through... And I returned it the next day, bought Galactic Civilizations from Stardock, and have been happy ever since. Don't ever buy or play this game.

Biggest.Disapointment.Ever

Ah *sigh*, the game that plays itself... So much anticipation - I bought it on the day it came out because I was so excited at the prospect of a newer, better MOO2... Oh the deception, the crushing sense of betrayal. The only redeeming thing about this game is reading the comments from other posters that have had the same experience. Back away... slowly... now!

Zero Stars

You need a PhD in both Xenopolitical Science and Intergalactic economics in order to play this game. If you posses both of these fictional degrees, the AI on the easiest of the game's settings will still beat you. After all, you got your Xenopolitical science degree from Zebnon State, which we all know is a total party school. Then you picked up that Intergalactic Economics degree at night while working at a law firm as a paralegal during the day. The computer AI was a trust fund kid that was able to amass as many degree's as it wanted while devoting all of it's time to research. The interface is also impossible to use. This is one of the few games where the name of this website is a total misnomer.
