Great Little Tactics Game
While there isn't a whole lot to this game, with the only replay value there is being attempting to beat the game with different teams and on higher difficulties, what's here is well done and polished. As far as the mechanics go it doesn't do anything too overly complicated, but there's still plenty of depth. You can equip up to 4 items on each of your mechs and they can range from weapons, to stat buffs, to adding special effects to the mech or other items it has equipped, and much more. The core appeal of the game is trying to make do with what you have available in the shop between missions or gain as mission rewards and set up powerful combos, and it does it well with a solid variety of items. Within the missions themselves there are a variety of different possible objectives, and the procedural generation works well enough to make things interesting. You'll find objects in the environment that affect nearby mechs in various ways or can be used to repair your units or get temporary upgrades. Most of these can also be destroyed with varying results on how it'll impact nearby units, so taking advantage of them to deal with enemies that often outnumber you can produce a lot of fun tactical scenarios. My main critique with the game is that the variety in missions is extremely limited. It only takes a few successful runs before things start getting repetitive and you've seen basically all it has to offer. There are no random events or side objectives to spice things up either. This is the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars, it's good, but it simply isn't super re-playable. It's hard to be upset about that though with how low the price is, you can still get at least a good dozen hours of fun out of it. Especially on sales, this game is excellent value and there's no real reason not to get it if you're even slightly into turn based tactics games. I got it for 90% off which translates to less than $1 and it honestly feels like I robbed the devs.
