EN: A good little game that doesn't look like much. I was offered this game, and frankly, it's a nice little discovery. The game reminds me of a Sonic game, but in 3D. The game is a little short, but has good replayability.
A short and sweet platforming game with a surprising amount of content in it. Although the collectibles mainly involve collecting all the cranes and not dying in a successful attempt of the level, it is still quite fun.
There are also 4 letters scattered throughout most levels spelling Hana's name when playing as her (she is the Tanuki in the cover art and the starting character) which unlock access to story crumbs which suggest there is more to the setting than meets the eye, collecting. Upon beating the game you get access to two guest characters from other indie games, each differing significantly from standard play.
This review comes from someone who largely missed the 3D-platformer bandwagon (last console were a SNES/Genesis) so it if you played many of those games, you have the benefit of hindsight and might have played better in that genre.
But for me, the experience was glorious. The graphics and music were awesome and very relaxing, which contrasts with a lot of the platforming elements which were often plain fun, but at times stress inducing especially given the scale of the levels. To the best of my recollection, this is the only game that gave me some fear of heights (which I did find thrilling in a way). The levels span over significant distance and altitude ranges (not planetary scale, but significant for a platformer regardless) and the line of sight is quite far so you can fully appreciate the scale of the level and how high you go.
The controls were not as tight I felt they could be, but after some getting used to, they became manageable (and by the 2nd or 3rd iteration of most levels, I think you could feasibly complete it without dying, at least if you are not hopeless with platformers), especially once I learned to play with the camera to better see where I was jumping (and the camera is very manageable, but it is an element of the game that you need to manage).
There aren't any bosses in this game and the enemies are pretty simple (think obstacles that can harm you and that you can kill, though some will chase you in a simple way). The platforming elements and soothing family friendly atmosphere (and level design) are the main attraction here.
The length is not too long and I think I completed the game in about 10 hours (including replays of many levels to get all the secret letters). You probably won't get crazy replayability with the game (once you've collected all the letters and finish the game, you can replay the game with different characters), but the time you'll spend on the game will be well spent.
Overall, a great game for me that I recommend.
