flawed but still good
I've played this for a couple of hours, up until the end of level 3 (map 3). The graphics are perfect imo (some great retro pixel art), as is the sound and the whole sound fx. Additionally, the game creates a nice horror atmosphere and lets you really dive into the whole Cthulhu setting, i.e. universe. It does effectively live up to its literary origins. Moreover and most importantly, the whole time through, it wasn't any boring or frustrating playing but instead a lot of fun and a real time killer. So what's the problem? First of all, you find/get way too many seemingly useless items that never actually come in handy. This quickly creates confusion and, in the end, a cluttered inventory. Secondly, you can't go back to previous levels once you've left them, i.e. never enter the yellow light if you haven't completed the whole map yet. Furthermore, the controls are extremely clumsy and complicated if you play this on PC with a mouse and a keyboard. It's much, much easier and simply better to play with a controller (dunno if this is possible with the pc version though). I played it on a Switch, too, and the controls weren't hard or complicated at all but rather intuitive. Moreover, you can't save the game whenever you want or need to. Can be frustrating at times when you have to play the whole map all over again and all your previous progress is somewhat lost. Finally, the difficulty level starts getting quite challenging, starting with the third map. Tons of traps in the ground, numerous monsters and lots of dot-damage. That's actually a problem, too: The dots last way too long and often drain 50% of your health, even if you use enough medi packs. In the end, I still want to go on with this game coz it's simply a lot of fun. It's gonna take some time finishing it, but it's worth that time in my opinion.

Good game for a hard core gamers!
The game is wonderful, but the difficulty could make some people cry. That is why it has only 3*. The controls are incredible, the only game I know where the keyboard experience is as cool as a gamepad experience. If you love Lovecraft and fear no challenging game, try it! By the way, the Android version is super cool too!

Disappointing
I think it's fair to say that if your game that's supposedly about Lovecraft ends up having a level full of zombies and skeletons and werewolves, something has gone horribly wrong.

Not perfect, but far from bad
Lovecraft's Untold Stories is an interesting title. It presents itself as a roguelike, but the maps are not procedurally generated. It attempts to implement the classic Lovecraftian tropes with varying degrees of success and mishaps. The game does do what it sets out to do. This is not meant to be a quick action title of Resident Evil like survival horror. This is more like if Alone in the Dark went 2D, and crowbarred in Eldritch horror. Honestly, I find the game fun, and interesting enough. I played it on Steam prior to my owning it here (a free give away thing). Regardless, it is a fun horror survival jaunt that isn't going necessarily scare you, but it should keep you intrigued.
