Much better than expected
1) It was a given out as a temporary free offer, GOG often reserve the dregs of their catalog for that! 2) A lot of stereotypical Jap schoolgirl shit! 3) It's a platformer! But I found it not to be the usual aggravating "multi pixel perfect jump sequences in rapid succession" type so typical of platformers. So far it has not been stupidly over difficult...... in fact maybe a little easy...... so far :D! I felt it just worked, once you'd got the controls customised to taste. It is meant to be used with an XBox controller though by the looks of it. Character movements felt responsive and sharp, she has a good jump height/range. Spells are fun to use but mana is in short supply. Melee combat takes a bit of good timing of your attacks to be successful. Ranged combat is easy but ammo is very scarce. Areas you have been in previously respawn - but that is an advantage for once, as you can farm them much as you want. Checkpoint saves is another bugbear usually, but they are quite frequent in this game and placed nicely before more difficult spots. There are plenty of teleportals as well, making it even more convenient to go back and farm those already done places!

Pretty great, a bit janky in a good way
I've played through the game 5 different times (on different modes/difficulties - the only one I haven't beaten is hardcore). I found the game to be fairly challenging even on normal difficulty the first time through, since it doesn't take many hits for an enemy to kill you. Boss fights can be difficult, but once you find the right combinations of spells, weapons, and equipment, they can end up being almost trivial. Personally, I enjoyed the aspect of figuring out the right items to use for a given situation (there is an element of item management too, but I didn't use many consumables. They're pretty essential in hardcore mode). The game's story isn't terribly notable, and the game is overall pretty short (a plus in my opinion, since the unlockable modes offer significant changes to gameplay, incentivizing repeat playthroughs). If you don't mind the art style and you enjoy slower-paced action platformers, I would highly recommend Lost Ruins. I got the game for free from a giveaway, but I'd happily pay at least the $10 the game goes on sale for.

Amazing !!!
I had this title on Steam wishlist for a long, long time :)) And now with this giveaway, here on GOG, I got to enjoy it and have a great time playing it :) It was kinda short... for me cca. 15h. But you will unlock new modes, wich I guess, will add to the story :) I will definitely play again on different modes to get the endings :) I really enjoyed the simple story. Played it on keyboard and it was fine, normal difficulty :) will not play hardcore... absurd mode :)) I wish we had wallpapers... not the ingame unlockable gallery tho' :( If you would like to play a pretty nice metroid..anime...tittiezz (some bosse's are... cultured) title :)))) consider purchasing it here... but on a sale :))

Okay, easy game, fun alternative mode
While it seems to follow a regular Castlevania formula, the main game is more inventory- than skill-based. What I mean is that you get a TON of different weapons, armor, etc., that can help you easily become overpowered just by choosing the right setup at the right time (nasty snow samurai? just switch to fire-based range weapons), which can make every boss a breeze. This is less fun that it sounds, because (a) the inventory interface is a bit overcrowded, so it becomes a bit tedious (I ended up using mostly the same three items through my whole run) and (b) some items are so powerful that make most of the rest redundant (I only used food at the beginning of the game, and maybe poison for one of the bosses). After you finish the game you get a bunch of alternative modes (magic only, assassin, etc.); among them is the "boss mode" in which you play an additional story switching between three characters with different abilities. I found this much more fun than the original, because it limits the types of items you can use, and each ability is useful in a different situation. For this mode I'm giving the game four instead of three stars.I highly recommend playing this mode, and it gives you an additional ending. Finally one word of advice: listen to what the Stoic says, it's not just a sidequest but a better ending.
