First play through on normal done in 6 hours i'll be back for the other modes and harder difficulties.

metroidvania-like with anime girls
Thanks GOG for the giveaway. Haven't finished it yet but enjoyed it so far. It was a good break from the much bleak and harder (but more polished) Grime that I was playing along side this. This game is easier and more forgiving. Movement is not fast and needs some getting used to. I did not like the default keyboard mapping - changed it so wasd was up/down/left/right, shift for dodge roll and JKIL for attacks. I liked that the boss fights so far can be beaten if you have the right combination of gear, and you can grind for gold to buy all items in the store. No need to git gud (yet). Another plus is that you can carry all your gear w/o restrictions or weight limits. Levels introduce some variety as you explore along. Might turn you off if you are not into cute anime girls tho.

Everything seems too drawn out
Your character attacks slow as tar, even with fast weapons. Meanwhile, some bosses are attacking basically as fast as your dodge recovery. Total mismatch of game type and game play. Great character designs, though. There doesn't seem to be RPG stat progression so far (couple of bosses in), so the boss fights seem like these fights of attrition where you're just wailing on them for far too long after you figure out that pattern. And they'll sometimes kill you in a few hits - or their status effects will randomly while you're trying to dodge a follow-up attack. Feels artificially 'hard.' I'm just going to go back and play Metroid, Iconoclasts, and Hollow Knight.

Fun time!
It doesn't reinvent any wheels, but it really has fun with itself It as quite humorous. Highly recommend playing Boss Mode once unlocked. There's quite a few references to other games to find. I had one or two technical issues. but nothing game breaking thankfully. For the price, it gave me what I expected.

Recycling The game doesn't signal bad ending conditions (don't open chests because I tell you) In boss mode weapons have boring bonuses The game doesn't explain parry mechanic the red one boss in boss mode
