Beautiful but don't expect LoTR II
Lords of the Realm 3 was released many years from the first two games in the series, and it's something you'll notice from everything: under the graphics aspect the game is beautiful, the battlefield is rendered in full 3D glory and the art-style adopted is very original and saves the game from aging fast: it's cartoony but still gory visuals makes the lowpoly art still interesting, while other nice touches like the clouds shadows moving over the environment are additional icing on the cake. Gameplay wise, even if it shares some aspects with LoTR I and II, the core is now shifted on the RTS battles. While the old LoTR games had an huge management part Lords of the Realm 3 plays more like a modern RTS. Fans of the older games will be disappointed especting a "LotR II but better", this title has a very different flavour. It's still a VERY solid and well made strategy game that offers spectacular battles and challenging campaigns so don't overlook it only because it's different from the first two games!
