In the Time of the Ancients, the Worldly Realm was ruled by a God of pure evil, who enslaved all humankind under his Dominion. But fear turned to anger as rebellion grew in the hearts of men - until the dawn of the Great Rising, when the fight for freedom began. After a glorious victory that cast aside the Fallen God, humans dictated a new order... a world where no sin can ever be forgiven and redemption was not an option.
Now, millennia later, the world trembles in fear as the Demonic Rhogar Legion returns from their dark realm, driven by a foul hunger for innocent spirits. Humanity, in a desperate last act, calls upon an unlikely defender - a convicted sinner, rejected by society and cast out of the light... a man known as Harkyn. Now, alongside his mentor, Kaslo, they must travel to the source of the Darkness... to face the Lords of the Fallen.
Plunge into a fast paced action RPG with a complex and satisfying melee combat system where weapons, armor and skills directly influence the enemy's speed and attacks... if all else fails, lay waste to your foes using forbidden magic power.
Key Features:
Embark on an Epic Quest that spans both human and demonic realms
Confront the mighty Lords, generals of the Rhogar army
Explore a vast dark fantasy world
Make your choices wisely as they may seal your fate
Wield legendary weapons and armors from a vast arsenal
Choose your class: Warrior, Cleric or Rogue and fully customize each with skills and weapons
It is as bad as the reviews says it is.
The combat and controls are clunky, the sound is off by a mile.
Avoid, if it's given to you as a gift, take that as a declaration of war...
Even Bad Rats is better.
if you are into the "super hard" stuff to feel good, yeah, buy this, but its stupidly hard, no reason to play it other than.....no really, no reason, dont waste money
Never played fromsoftware games. But if this is a easier version of Souls? Than Souls ain't good, but broken. As this is pathetic and not difficult. Hits register even if their weapons don't hit you and the shield rasing is comparable to child not knowing their phyiscal limits. Bought on sale and cause of the DRM. Wish I bought on steam so I could get my money back. Screw this game.
So the game is good. It's a Souls-like with a lot fo personality. Production values aren't as good from the animation to the voice acting but obviously it's a lower budget game and they devs made something that still looks really good. Controls and mechanics are also very good for the most part.
One BIG problem: When you pause and hit resume the game locks on a blank screen with the cursor on it. This happened to me multiple times within the first hour of playing, forcing me to close the game and lose progress. It also keeps me from changing my controls because, even in the main menue, the changes to the controls I made never carried over. There was also a glitch when getting the first gauntlet, where the character froze in place and didn't respond to inputs for about 30 seconds.
If these bugs were fixed I'd give it another star. At $30 especially. First it's an older game at this point and second these game breaking bugs are irritating and unacceptable. The base game itself is still really good fun though.
The spongy camera, laggy controls, directional sound issues, and sluggish movement are bad enough, but then you are litterally thrown into a boss fight 5 minutes in. Maybe if you were given a proper tutorial. Maybe if you could use the powers you apparently need to have for a boss fight. But as is you can't defeat this boss and even start the game for real. Now clearly people have managed to beat him, but if you have to look up videos online to figure out the trick to something in the first 5 minutes, it's a failure of a game really. The mechanic appears to be you should wait for the overhead attack (unblockable having been told to block attacks a minute before, so nice failure there), dodge it, then counter while there is an opening. The problem is you can't. Because you can't actually dodge an attack if you're in range of the attack because of the "locking". Which by the way, using makes it impossible to fight a boss because you can't actually maneuver as needed, so again failure there. You move so slow, by the time the attack is over and you move in to counter, the boss recovers and puts up the shield. Unclear why I can't move as fast as in the youtube video. Unclear why dodge doesn't seem to work like in the video (get hit anyway). Maybe due to the laggy controls you have to anticipate and use commands before you see the time to use them, but you shouldn't have to be Nostradamus to play a game. So yeah, the entire review is a detail of how unplayable it is within minutes. After dying a dozen times fighting these controls and terrible design I give up. Glad I bought it at 90% off, it wasn't worth even that much. Real shame, the graphics are wonderful, but you'll never see anything past the first couple rooms.
