There's about 60 hours of content, after which you can keep going but you'll be making your own fun grinding for certain loot to do meme runs and doing runs with your own restrictions. There's a few things I'd tweak but it's a good base, if they release DLC in a year or so to flesh out synergies and maybe add a more replayable game mode or another mechanic it could easily be a 200+ hour plus rogue lite.
First off, we need to address the elephant in the room. A growing number of overhyped roguelike/lite games that that community keeps harping on. I first noticed this group with Hades (remember that greatest game of all time that pretty much nobody talks about anymore?) They claim addictiveness, they claim dopamine, yet their titles are often short, repetitive and trite; lacking any depth beyond moment to moment rng loot choices that are immediately disposed of and forgotten at the beginning of the next run.
Loop Hero is another one of these games. It's not particularly great. It's a slog to grind base resources. Tiles and gameplay aren't fully explained leading to moments where you wonder "why am I putting down things that are trying to kill me again with no other upside?" The neat interactions like harpy mountains and vampire villages are quickly discovered and lead you to believe that the game is full of this kind of tile exploration but it's really not.
That's not to say the game is totally without merit. I enjoy the music. It's fine as a background game while I'm doing other things. I like the way it looks and it reminds of childhood favorite nes titles like Willow. It's just not great beyond those aesthetics. It lacks depth and a driving force. It lacks competent tutorials which means most people are gonna want to check out others gameplay for better understanding.
Through it all, I can never shake the feeling that I don't get why I'm ultimately putting the threats on my own board for me to conquer. Loop Hero ultimately asks you to be dungeon master and hero. Like playing a game of chess against yourself, honestly why bother?
50 hours in about a week like it was nothing, this game. love the art style, love the gameplay loop, I'm pleased this is doing well and I'm excited for the prospect of there being more of this. I've seen some other reviews here bagging on the art style, I don't understand what wrong with people, this game is beautiful and actually has unique and visually intersting style.
