LOOM™

What ? I download and start it, and i just found the CD Talkie version, packaged with ScummVM. This is not even he best version that there is, and does not have any perks. The game itself is lovely, and beautiful (thats why i bought it), but if i knew this was going to be just a packaged ScummVM version, i wouldn't have wasted my money. I already have the full library of ScummVM games, with ALL the versions. (at least, i now know better to spend money on old games). Shame on you GOG.

I have not bought the GOG version, so I do not know the quality. However, Loom itself, while loses steam by the end, is brilliant! I love how different it feels from other point and click games and the simple interface is so friendly. There are some ridiculous logic here and there, but mostly the game is really easy and a bit too short. Though, originally inteded as a trilogy, so that explains the length. The world looks so gorgeous even after all these years thanks to Mark Ferrari's incredible technique! Even with its short length, flaws, and rushed ending I am giving it a 5 star for originality, and clever ideas. I just wish this got a remake with a bit more fleshed out story and pushing the mechanics.

I love the classic LA Games! Indiana Jones, Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion, ... . Wonderfull Stories, wonderfull Graphics, wonderfull Sounds and FX. THIS IS, Point&Click-Adventuring, like it should be! The only sad Story here is, it's only in English :(. I ow'n all of those games on Disk, for C=64, Amiga or PC, with German-Text. I wish, there would be the German-Text in those GOG-Releases...

The first thing about this game is that it is really short, it took me less than three hours, and most of them were slowly walking back and forth. The "puzzle" are quite straightforward, with the exception on how to the invisibility spell actually work, given that you can't use it on yourself. The conclusion was also a bit disappointing to me, probably because the game was initially supposed to have two sequels. The magic mechanic is nice, and so are the art and the music; I'd say, go for it if it is on sale.

The way this game focused on using music to advance the story was amazing, and something I haven't seen done again since Loom came out. I really, really wish someone would either make a sequel or a reboot, using similar or even better music mechanics. If I could give this game more stars I would!
