The Experience That Made Me A Gamer

This game, my lord this game. Honestly I could sit here all day and write about it, its the first game I played and still holds up as my favourite game of all time to this day, the world is quirky, colourful, fun and unique. You don't have to play the first game to understand the plot here, but it does have many throwbacks and tribute to the first installment, I didn't actually play the first game until 2011 so even though these throwbacks went over my head, it was still nice to see. I'm not going to spoil the plot, but it works very well and just creates that kind of adventure that you don't see in games these days, part of this is because of the classic 90's PC game charm, which this game is brimming with. If you have played the first game but not this one, this game still has the isometric view indoors but outdoors is now an expansive 3D landscape, each area is massive and there's tons to see and do, I can't tell you how many hours I've lost just exploring this world. The voice acting is top notch and miles better than the "average" voice acting in the first game, the voice actor for Twinsen actually also plays Rayman, In my honest opinion though he plays Twinsen much better. If you are looking for a game to re-install your love for games or if you're looking for a first game to play, or just love games in general, buy this masterpiece, its an absolute bargain here with all sorts of bonus goodies to please the LBA addict.

Amazing game

My god, this game meant the world to me as a child. I replayed it over and over and over...showed it to my mom who replayed it over and over...I think I was like 7 when I played it and I continued to play it multiple times a year until finally it wouldn't work on my pc. That such a sad day when I realized It wouldn't install. This game is fully voices which blew my mind as a child coming from N64 and the like before it. The world felt soooo big. There were so many hidden things to do, you had to really pay attention to what the ai told you because otherwise you'd have no idea where to go and boy, it was hard too. I'd drown so many times over jumping off of cliffs. The dialogue in this game is hilarious and quirky, so many strange little things occur. Oh man everyone should play this. I know it might be hard to play now but DO IT.

Worth every penny or way more

This is the reason why I stayed up after bedtime at my uncle's during my early childhood. He didn't want me to be at his place for the sole reason of playing this game, so he copied his pirated installation CD onto a blank one, with all the patching instructions, for me to install it on my home pc. _________________________ And while it was tricky to make the original version work right out of the box on XP, and way harder on 7 or 10, your version runs smoothly on the last operating systems. I'm finally able to play it with all the colors right and with no sound glitches! ps. Btw, if you want a combat tip: while Twinsen's hit animation plays, press Control and the anim will be reset ;-) Mostly recommended for melee combat, as it's way easier to use melee in this game and, oc don't forget jump save reload, had the most fun with this one )

A classic with one near fatal flaw

I played LBA2 twice back in the day, and always meant to replay it. I finally did, and yes, it's still so very charming with all the rounded, colourful shapes and innocent characters. The story is suprisiningly serious though, and despite that everyone's but Twinsen's voice sounds completely ridiculous you can't help but take them seriously simply because that's how everyone speaks here. If someone were to just walk by the game they'd definitely have a good laugh. This is the real strenght of LBA2 though - how it manages to build a cohesive little universe here of islands and planets with inhabitants and oppressors and make the player feel engaged in it. You'll even forget that the bad guys look like sausages. The first half of the game will make you love it. Some annoying parts nonwithstanding. It's when combat ramps up that the problems arise, specifically the horrific stunlocking. Even if you do land the first shot, most enemies will be pushed to the side by each hit so it's easy to eventually miss, and then that' it for you. Only way out of it now is to get pushed around with a screaming Twinsen until you're out of range. Problem is Twinsen's animations. Push a button, jump, shoot - it all takes a second to set up, and this includes getting hit. So you're first knocked back, then you recover, and THEN you can start aiming again, so naturally before all that has taken place you're hit again. It's simply atrocious and nearly kills the whole game towards the end. I'll not even get into the problems of ranged combat with bouncing and arcing shots from an isometric angle. Same with the platforming segments. Angles, however, you can learn. The new 3d-engine is great, and I really think they should have scrapped having combat in the isometric sections altogether, since these lend themselves more to interacting with characters and such. Fortunately for LBA2, combat is still a relatively small part. Also, listening to the menu music will wash away all anger.

The best game ever made!

Even after finishing hundreds of games in my life, the Little Big Adventure series is in the top of my list. This second game is even better than the first one. Everything is so amazingly done that I'm still waiting for a sequel, since the 90's.
