I have no explanations to describe how much I love this game, he brings an air of happiness and nostalgia at the same time. Too perfect. I played my whole life since as a child. I am passionate about the same for this game. Best game ever!
LBA2 is very special to me. At the time, I found out about a group of external testers for Activision called the Visioneers. Basically, Activision reached out to the gaming community, and pulled a few of us in to help test as if we were internal testers. And they listened! I'd helped somewhat on Interstate '76, but this was my first full experience from beginning to end. We didn't make money- just got our names in the credits and a free game. But the experience was great, and one I use as the example of a team thinking out of the box even today in my own development career. They weren't just concerned with getting a game out the door- they were concerned with the quality and depth, and what the testers were feeling and thinking... definitely a different time at Activision. And the people there were great, and loved what they were doing - a lot different from many of the people that I know there now. And it shows. I didn't think I'd like it; I hate these kind of adventure video games. But it pulls you in and engages you and before you know it, more time than you planned to spend playing as passed- but you still want to keep going! I can't say enough good things about this game!
I first played this game in 98, and immediately fell in love with it, even though I didn't know English and didn't finish it. Then I played it again in 2003, and loved it even more. The story is epic, and the game has many hours of game play. Practically all character and npcs have their own voices, giving them all individual personalities. There is a lot of content in the game; you often find yourself wondering off to learn what else is going on with the npcs around you. Yes it's from 97 and the graphics will reflect that, HOWEVER don't be fooled. The story line, characters and voice overs, can give many new games a run for their money. I've played many games and this is one of the few I can call one of my favorites, and would happily recommend it to anyone, as I don't see how someone will not enjoy this game. (specially with this cheap price)
I bought this for nostalgic reasons. I have fond memories of playing this as a 12 year old and now years later I feel like experiencing it again. Although the voice acting is quite bad and the controls feel very awkward to begin with, it's worth putting up with for the excellent adventure, complete with interesting characters and varied environments. Worth parting with a few pounds to enjoy this classic.
Never meet you childhood heroes, the saying goes. Well in this case I would recommend it. I was worried about spoiling my wonderful memories of this game, but I can confidently say that this game is just as fun as when I played it at 12 years old (around 1998). I have the original on disc, but what's a few dollars for the convenience of gog's modern compatible version. Absolutely recommenced.
