Best Golf Game, Even After All Time
I've never actually been to a real golf course. The closest I've gotten is hitting a few putts and tee shots at a local practice facility. Even so, it didn't take long to realize that this game is great for everyone—from total golf newbies like me to semi-pro enthusiasts. At first, the interface and menus were totally confusing and tough to get used to. But after reading through the game's PDF manual step-by-step, I finally managed to figure things out (it's true that a lot of classic games are super strict and won't even let you do basic stuff without a manual deep-dive, so you just have to adapt!). Once you get the hang of it, though, you'll lose track of time playing! There are a ton of golf courses included, and it's so much fun figuring out your strategy based on how successful your first tee shot was, how much and when the wind changes direction, and what the slope and grass type of the green are like. The sound design is a little bare-bones—I mean, there's no music even in the main menu. I get it, though; it's a genre that requires a lot of focus. Still, the sounds like the birds chirping, the swing and ball impact, and the crowd applause for a successful par or birdie shot are all pretty decent considering when the game was released. All in all, I'm really happy I found this great classic game. I definitely recommend it to any gamer who wants to enjoy a relaxing, lightly focused round of golf on their PC.
