I enjoyed the first Larry remake(wet dreams don't dry) but it felt like something was missing and that it was a bit short. The sequel really makes up for it and covers a lot more ground and is a little raunchier. The puzzles are generally good with some misses(to be fair all adventure games suffer this). It also seem to pay homage to older adventure game titles(you'll know it when you see it) and Leisure suit larry : love for sail , one of the best larry games. Would definitely recommend
I found ‘Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry’, the recent soft reboot of the ‘LSL’ franchise, to be rather good. The premise of Larry adapting to a time of political correctness, sexual liberalism, high technology, and social media was funny to me. Plus, there was a good mix of brain-tickling puzzles and raunchiness that I expect from an ‘LSL’ game.
Naturally, I was excited for ‘Wet Dreams Dry Twice’. Just as ‘WDDD’ referenced the first ‘LSL’ game, ‘Twice’ has plenty of references to ‘LSL2’, and even ‘LSL3’ (e.g., marrying the island leader’s daughter, island resort, espionage, volcano). There’s even an obvious allusion to ‘Love for Sail’! Yet, the developers managed to take these familiar elements and make ‘Twice’ feel original.
Compared to the previous game, ‘Twice’ is less raunchy, with fewer titillating and funny cutscenes despite having just as much immature adult humour and phallic imageries. The villain and many side female characters are sadly one-dimensional, except one who is more fleshed out in more ways than one. I suppose that’s to be expected when Larry’s objective is to find Faith, his love interest in ‘WDDD’.
Yet, these flaws are offset by comparatively better designed puzzles, supported by clearly stated objectives and hints. I wasn’t stumped as often as in the last game on what to do next and how to proceed. Sadly, the overall collection of puzzles is uneven, much like the pacing of the game in the last quarter. Slotting in an unneeded minigame, padding out the game with – not one, not two, but three – annoying maze puzzles, and capping it all off with a repetitive puzzle don’t make for a strong finish.
‘Twice’ may be a slight step-down from ‘WDDD’, but it’s still a fun game for the most part. Despite my complaints, this game is nowhere as disappointing and divergent as ‘LSL2’. With ‘Twice’ tying up loose ends from ‘WDDD’ rather neatly, it’s worth checking out if you’ve already played the previous game and when it goes on sale.
Clearly CrazyBunch consists of old school point-and-click fans. The amount of references to old games by Sierra and Lucasfilm/LucasArts is staggering. The sequel is as good as the first one, so if you liked the first game, you will like this one.
I honestly had low expectations of this game but was pleasantly surprised. The more time you spend with it, the more this game starts to shine with great gameplay design and decent humor. The jokes might not be for everyone, but it is a very well-balanced experience that avoids many of the typical problems with adventure games.
The game pits the titular Larry Laffer on an island-hopping adventure to save the love of his life and so much more. These games are known for being naughty, and there are plenty of sexcapades and horny jokes.
Too many, really. Almost every screen has a penis in it. Some characters get downright cringe with their sex jokes; this might even be intentional to make you dislike certain antagonists. But give it a chance. Eventually the humor does evolve and become more clever. Establishing Larry as basically warped to the modern day from the 80s opens the door to many interesting scenarios. It's never quite rolling on the floor funny, but you will get a few laughs here and there.
The gameplay is the star for me. There is very little "moon logic" in this game; some moments feel absolutely absurd but make sense in the context of the Larry universe. There are many quality of life features, like a to-do list and the ability to highlight all interactive items in any screen. Crafting items is also ingeniously integrated in a crafting app which takes a lot of the trial and error guesswork out of mixing items together. However, it does remove a layer of difficulty as you essentially know the answer and just need to find the right item. I never got stuck for very long and did not need a guide.
There is one potentially annoying minigame and an honestly frustrating maze section. These are thankfully optional and you can skip them at absolutely no cost. The epilogue of the game is genuinely interesting.
There are a few bugs and typos, but nothing that breaks the game. Overall, a surprisingly good experience that exceeded my expectations.
This game is not good. The humour is worse than before, the puzzles are basically copied from Monkey Island series (I mean come on, you can't call these "nods" anymore when there are so many) and the game mechanics have not improved one bit.
There really is nothing to see here (just search those Instacrap clips online) and playing this game is just a waste of money and time.
2 stars is only for Yanmei, a character that is well written to work with Larry.
