Solid gem, notable issues today
Getting a decent control scheme set up can be an issue. But once you do the game runs smoothly. Graphics are to be expected from its era, audio as well. Both were very good back on release, today they hold up but are nothing to write home about. The real winner here is the story. This is a beautiful conclusion to the Legacy of Kain saga. And the boss fight at Avernus Cathedral STILL feels every bit as amazing and desperate and "WTF" as it did a decade ago. Absolutely NOT the title to enter this series with. Play Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 first. Blood Omen you can get from a plot synopsis, and Blood Omen 2 can be skipped entirely (and many fans say should be, I'm not quite so harsh. It's a decent game, but by far the weakest and least plot-relavant entry in the Legacy of Kain saga.)
