Mediocre entry with good atmosphere
I don't blame people who think this is the worst of the series since it wasn't even made by the core development team. The dialogue is sub-par relative to every other entry, the plot is very barebones, combat is incredibly wonky where the enemies have so many invincibility frames you could have dinner and come back, and you still couldn't hit them. The levels themselves are stupidly linear, little to no exploration, and puzzles are just busy work. What saves this entry is they got the character Kain right, what he is, how he interacts with others and his core principles are faithful to the series that's a plus. The atmosphere of Nosgoth is very much on point, dark, steampunk, and dreary. The voice acting isn't bad, it's the dialogue that is the biggest casualty here. Graphics are pleasant for 2002 and level design isn't bad it's just very linear. It's only good if it's on sale and you're in the mood for some Legacy of Kain but lower your expectations. It's for completionists because as a standalone title it's very mediocre as a game.
