The Last Federation

Really that's all I want to say and get. I wouldn't say hooray! to this if it wasn't (or seems to be) almost bug-free. For me a great epic fun can easily be slaughtered near to death with constant buggy gameplay. But The Last Federation is a great game. Not too much of fighting and super-difficult battles going on and on if you want to become a strong force in the game. There are so many other ways. That's what often makes me almost throw up - even though you just loved the game yesterday, if it is starting to look like the only way to progress is fighting fighting fighting - I get bored. Too bored. So thank you and hugs to the developer team of TLF. More more more :)

The combat mechanics in this game are just horrible.

Rocket science it's not but the game entertains young Miss 8 and the music doesn't drive be too batty so as far as I'm concerned it is worth the money I paid for it. p.s. I'm not sure what the issue is with the update system because I was very impressed by it. You just decide between beta patches or only stable ones and get on with playing the game… seriously, its so simple a 8 year old can do it!

The words "turn-based combat" kinda lured me in. But the combat is really just a single ship hurrying around a 2d field with many bad guys chasing you. It is true that you stop and plot your move and your shots, pulse by pulse. And it is also true that there's a lot of complexity built into the mix of weapons, power distribution, bad guys' weapons/weapon ranges, bad guys' weaknesses (rock/paper/scissors vs. your weapons). But still it's basically pac-man. And that aspect of the game comes up a lot. I'm a bit disappointed.

There are two expansions (Betrayed Hope, and The Lost Technologies) for this game that for some odd reason aren't included with this nor are they even available for sale on GOG.com. If you want the complete game, don't buy it here, as other online stores are selling the full game with expansions. (like $team)
