Join Carl and June on what begins as a magical outing to their favorite spot, and try to unlock the sequence of events that could save the day – and June’s life – in this cinematic experience that will compel you to ask yourself: “What would I do to save the one I love?"
Last Day of June is an interactive tale about love and loss, from an all-star team of creators - including critically acclaimed director Massimo Guarini (Murasaki Baby, Shadows of the Damned) & award-winning musician and record producer Steven Wilson, and featuring a collaboration with writer/director/animator Jess Cope (animator on “Frankenweenie”, director for Metallica’s “Here Comes Revenge” music video).
A HEART-DRIVEN QUEST: Last Day of June is inspired by Steven Wilson’s haunting song “Drive Home.” Recreated as an interactive adventure, Last Day of June takes players on a profound and poignant journey.
POETRY IN MOTION: A true artistic innovation in visualizing a bittersweet story told through a welcoming, painterly world that showcases the beauty of life and love, but also the contradictions of loss.
EMPATHY THROUGH EXPERIENCE: Determined to save his beloved and fueled by the power of grief, Carl introduces players to June’s last day. But as they interact with the narrative, players will progress from viewer to a character deeply intertwined in the story.
FATE-ALTERING PUZZLES: Relive June’s last day by traveling back in time through her paintings in an attempt to change the results of the fateful and final drive home by solving emotionally challenging puzzles.
INTERACTIVE STORYTELLING: Carl and June’s story progresses at key moments where life-changing decisions need to be made, but players may need to navigate unintentional consequences that create new dilemmas – and potentially new opportunities.
I had no idea what this game is, just installed it because today is the last day of June xD (and I had it for free)
Well... it starts of as a cute, charming game (although with somehow creepy graphics with those eyeholes lol), but it quickly becomes boring and uninteresting. This is a "walking simulator", I guess, which I don't have problems with - if it's done right. But it's not, or at least this story and the characters (mainly, the protagonist) didn't resonate me well. After the first 30 mins I gave up.
Too repetitive, got bored after a couple of hours the time to discover what the gamplay is made of. I'm a sucker for a good walking sim, so I've no problem with narrative games in general.
This one is "meh".
Auto-saving seems to take too long. Aftera short emotional beginning, it becomes tedious and repeats itself annoyingly. It's very beautiful but I wish it did not have characters that are constantly annoyed, making the player annoyed as well
I've tried to play this game earlier and got somewhat 7-10 FPS. I thought ok, fine, this game is looks beautiful (but not optimised at all), but ok.
Then I've bought a new video card and run on Windows... What I've got was a beautiful black screen and no way to play at all. I checked the internet, people tell many wierd things and no help at all… before I looked into logs. They told that mp4 is used and I have to install Windows Media Player. All other games use webm format, which doesn't require WMP to be installed (I have Windows N).
What to do? I could extract unity assets, reformat to webm and pack back, but… it's a developer work, not mine.
I wonder also why other games optimised well enough to have at least 20-30 FPS (even Quern!) on i7700K internal video card. 20 FPS makes game playable, at least. Videos on YouTube shows nothing extraordinary to have this requirements. I don't believe that they included any extra enchantments to graphics for Nvidia 1080+.
I really regret I've bought this game. May be, if developers fix the issue with the black screen, I be able at least to play it.
This game is a mystery to me. I cannot comprehend why someone would design this piece of computer-based refuse, produce it, and release it. I also cannot understand why a site would host it, and even charge money for it! To call it a game would be to insult the games industry.
Visually, the game looks like the developers put all of their ideas for how to make a game look hideous into a hat, drew all of the ideas out, executed them all, and then had a horde of rampaging monkeys throw poo on it all. You can only view the horrific mass from one perspective, though the game randomly changes that perspective after the repetitive, long, non-skippable cutscenes. Inevitably, the shapeless blobs they call characters have to take off walking in one direction or another, hoping they're not headed down a dead-end path. I spent a significant amount of time viewing the inside of my "character's" head, as it was squished into the camera that I could not re-orient. Delightful.
Speaking of squishing heads, the developers seem to want you to kill the innocent couple as many times as possible. If you get caught in the wrong spot, you'll have to spend an excruciating amount of time slowly and steadily taking actions that you know will kill your neighbors. I don't know what to make of this seemingly homicidal tendency in the game makers. Horrifically nasty.
I found myself in the second segment, wandering endlessly down the same monotonous, wretched paths, wondering why I was spending all of this time just to help a depressed woman walk out on her husband and child. Seriously, guys? This is the best incentive you can give to a player? Most of your time is spent in almost aimless, sometimes blind wandering around and around the same repetitive map, wondering what the meaning of it all might be. Here's a clue: it doesn't exist.
Do I like anything about this game? Yes, yes I do. I'll never have to play it again.
