Knights and Bikes

There are many games trying to capture the charm of childhood but perhaps none of them does it so well as Knights and Bikes, with it's cute art style, clever story, adorable characters and witty dialogues. And it has co-op mode, that's always an advantage. Let Demelza and Nessa take you on their great adventure, you won't be disappointed... Just don't play for too long at once, the game can become a bit boring due to repetitive, chaotic fights and unrewarding exploration (unless you enjoy buying dozens of customization parts for your bike). Anyway, it's something unique and deserves your attention... Money too ;-)

I rarely do reviews but this game so much worth it. I've in love with the art style of the game and it's mood - it's rarely you got to play a game that much polished in terms of actual sensual experiences. I really dig the feel and the story which is the perk in itself since the game is tightly tied to the certain period and location in UK of which I wasn't even that aware or. It is polished in all the departments mind you. Since I'm playing on linux I've used to a treatment as a second-class citizen and rarely a game just launched worked flawlessly without a couple of patches. This game works just great without a hitch. The only minor problem I've encountered so far with this game is that I cannot play it with my ages-old wired gamepad since it wasn't supported be the middleware the game is using. But playing with the keyboard is working surprisingly well. Gameplay wise it's better to play with someone else I guess but it's totally enjoyable as a single player affair(which is my case) and it's gameplay is tied pretty nifty with the game's narrative and they compliment each other really well. So if you're in for some topdown story driven adventure of how is it to be a ten year kid -- that's the perfect game for ya. And even if you're not give it a try -- it's a great piece of art be itself and it's totally worth it.

This game is incredibly charming and filled with style and personality. You can play either co-op or single player (I can't recommend co-op enough--not because the AI is bad, but because it's great to experience with a friend) in this romp of an adventure around the island of Penfurzy. Since you're playing as two young girls having adventures (Demelza and Nessa), all of the real-time combat and items are relevant to their experience. Demelza attacks with splashes of water from her wellington boots, while Nessa throws frisbees at unsuspecting passers-by. You heal each other with off-brand band aids and high fives. You ride bikes and play retro video games. It's neither an incredibly long adventure nor an especially challenging one, but it will almost certainly charm you and make you remember your childhood Saturdays. It has a stunning, stylized art style that is unmistakable, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing and experiencing it.

It's like a warm hug. The art style, music and humor is really well done. The story is gripping and damn charming. The gameplay is fun and relaxing, works brilliantly alone with the AI and with a friend.

Every inch of this game is wonderful. From the quirky rich story chock full of subtext, to the hilarious animations of the characters as they react to each other and the world. This was clearly a labor of love and I love it. Playing this game is like stepping into a richer better life (sometimes scarier!) It plays like childhood, real childhood, not the sacharine ersatz story sold to us by advertisers. Great for coop in particular.
