You already have the base game?
Here you will find an upgrade to Lord's Edition.
Darkness descends over the world of Nostria. Conspiracies, sabotage, and necromancy are overshadowing the country. But maybe a saviour – the kingdom's last hope – is already here, to fight back and finally restore peace and order in Nostria!
King’s Bounty II is the long-awaited sequel to the legendary King’s Bounty video games franchise, one of the most iconic representatives of the turn-based RPG genre. Expanding on this legacy with an entirely new epic story, factions, enemies, and new features to forge an open and breaking fantasy world Antara. With the kingdoms in disarray, counties demanding independence, bandits prowl the roads, all the overseas nations have denied the King’s authority over them, and blighted creatures lie in wait for the unwary, new accidental heroes emerge as a last hope.
They are determined to bring order to the chaos. Play as one of them, recruiting, developing, and commanding your personal army on a non-linear adventure of betrayal, sacrifice, and survival. Fighting for your own future, outsmarting enemy in uniquely turn-based combat, making difficult decisions, and experience the intensity of one of the classic sagas in an exciting new way.
IMMERSIVE AND CHARACTER-DRIVEN EPIC STORY
Play as one of three main heroes, rescuing and building your personal army in a journey of leadership, survival, and sacrifice. Every decision you make has profound and lasting consequences.
UNIQUE MASSIVE WORLD TO DISCOVER
The world of Antara is wide open and ripe for exploration. Unearth hidden places and dangerous enemies — Antara is a vast home to a thousand wonders and secrets for players to discover.
CUSTOMIZABLE SQUAD AND EQUIPMENT
Each army squad has its own set of skills and visual appearance. Build armies of different creatures who will fight with you throughout the majority of your adventure.
TACTICAL DEPTH ON THE BATTLEFIELD
The environment and landscape matter in King’s Bounty II. Players will encounter diverse terrain types, directly impacting battlefield tactics. Every battle is unique in its own way.
It has been a long time since I played KB 1. But, a short time after getting adjusted to the
new look and feel (3D world) everything came back. The original KB was a game that could
eat hundreds of hours of your life by maintaining a perfect balance between progression
and difficulty of the quests. Same holds here. The design is completely different, but conceptually
this is the same kind of digital heroin. It can develop addiction and you may end up hating
yourself for the time spent on it (one more turn, one more turn, ...) if you have any sort
of big responsibilities in your life (yes, looking at you, middle-aged gamer).
# Couple of remarks
I played it on Linux using Gamehub (worked really good).
Played on normal difficulty (in hindsight, maybe I should have switched to hard, would probably leave the game sooner).
People complaining about controls: I don't get you (you can rotate the bloody cam, just look into controls menu).
The friggin' horse is annoying (probably a conscious choice of the digital drug lords to play with my psyche).
# So there, you have been warned.
Pros:
-The horse runs faster outside the cities and faster than the hero. He can be easily controlled than some liars say. It is smarter than the horse from another game that teleports on the houses. He can make tight turns, but not on the spot and he never gets stuck. NEVER.
-There are no invisible walls at all, but the hero cannot pass or jump over the edges of the fields. Even if the edge is only 0.5m high. Don't try to force it, you'll get stuck.
-The world is nice, the main heroes are beautiful, the graphics of the army characters is superb, the magic book is gorgeous.
-The NPC women are more natural and beautiful than in the western games. However, it could have been dressed sexier.
-The fights are very good and the A.I. used is smart.
-The game offers a beloved experience that you don't want to end.
-The music is beautiful in the Main menu and at the end of the game. I don't remember the music in the gameplay.
Cons:
-The battles are very few and do not respawn on map.
-The character's run is like a faster walk.
-It doesn't have New Game+ and is needed a lot because you can finally enjoy the full inventory and powers only at the end of the game. If you don't play the secondary missions and all the battles on the map, you don't finish the game with the hero at the maximum level or talents. The open ending is for nothing. The battles MUST respawn on the map.
-The quests give you different items, depending on which path you choose. You can't have all the items at the end. I don't know if I did all the quests, although I checked everything and was very careful. I can't find some quests or they have different names.
-Not all the quests are memorable.
-The NPC you talk to all look alike, as if they are related to each other. The hair texture used is old.
-You can't have romance.
Because I want more, I give it 5/5.
For others is a solid 4/5.
Whoever scores lower, they do it politically.
... game developers are responsible for political decision of a country? Do you believe the labouring pawn should bear the blame for the action of a mad king? Only if you are an idiot.
Anyway... King's Bounty is one of the best franchise ever crafted of RPG/strategy and turn-based delight. This new entry is a welcome breath of fresh air in a very much loved series that deserves all its success.
