EN:
The game is really not bad. It's comprehensive and varied. Being able to control our hero is also a good idea, I think. It adds a bit of excitement to the gameplay.
In short, the game is accessible, but I don't think it lacks strategy. A must-have (especially given the sale price).

The later games are really fun, but this one is just too unrefined. The difficuly curve is out of whack and there are parts that might have worked on mobile, but do no translate well to the PC (for instance, in one level, you have to click the towers to prevent them from being locked. Considering the mouse cursor is really small and does not have good contrast with the background, it's hard to target the towers and it's easily to accidentally sell one instead of stopping them from being locked).
I enjoy tower defense games, but it's hard to find really good ones among all the generic ones out there. Kingdom Rush stands among the best with well thought and balanced towers, enemies and progression. And adding heroes and bosses only sets it apart even more.
While the intro/cover art may look like every other tablet game out there, the in-game art is quite nice as well, with it's retro but detailed quality. I got my money's worth in the first day alone. If you like tower defense games, Kingdom Rush is a must-have.
Prettier and longer than the free version, this remake still has rather cheap-looking graphics, but it is a lot of fun. Place towers to attack incoming enemies, and reinforce them with three abilities: peasant troops, a meteor shower, and your chosen Hero (only one is available at first, but others are unlockable). You can unlock new abilities through a talent tree and upgrades for towers during the game. Play is linear until after the final battle when a variety of optional battles are unlocked. Various boss battles break the rules; some morph into new forms when "killed." Some ignore the path and march straight across the battle field. This is cool, as is the soundtrack, which isn't long but is full of drums and primal noises. Battles are just long enough for a good break but not so long that you will have to set aside a block of time.
Minuses: difficulty seems fixed, even though different levels are select-able. I tried varying the difficulty on a few battles and lost in the same place every time until I developed a better strategy. The last battle in the main campaign is long and has a very limited number of strategies that actually work, making it tedious to beat. By the end of the campaign you will have everything in the talent tree, so making your own unique build is impossible. Also, who is the player and why can he build towers and call meteor storms? The game offers no suggestions. There is, in fact, not much of a story. But still, I recommend it.
Try the flash game if you are unsure.
The first thing I'd like to say, is that I found the final game much better than the free browser demo.
This is a classic and basic tower defense, nothing really special, however it is quite well done and has enough personality to keep you entertained for a couple of weeks. Well worth the low price on sale.
With only 4 tower types ans only a dozen possible locations to build on each map (no mazing), this may appear as a rather limited game.
- Each tower has two main upgrade paths, which are really different, plus various perks on the last level.
- You can select one from a dozen of heroes, each with its own values and specials.
- There are 60+ different enemies and bosses
- The cartoon style gfx, though not stunning, are quite well done, and add to the atmosphere.
- 26 levels, with 3 play modes each offering different enemy waves patterns, 78 different levels.
