Game:

You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family. Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!

Story:

Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart. One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.

In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.

Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.
  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.
  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.
  • Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.
  • Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It’s all up to you.
  • Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.

Amazing Open World RPG

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is awesome. The combat is satisfying and more complex than usual. Some sound design issues and bugs still plague it, but it's still absolutely a great game.

Garbage Console Port UI

Seriously wtf. The controls for keyboard and mouse are so stupid. You look with your mouse the entire game, but then when you're in combat, your 'look' with mouse now changes combat directions which makes no sense. You can't unlock from a target which feels incredibly stupid. You can't see your hands so you have no idea whether or not you're about to swing or not.. lot of times I'm just clicking and clicking and it doesn't swing or do anything. Let's talk about archery, standing 1 foot in front of someone and firing off a dozen arrows and not landing one. When my character is worse at things than I am it is no longer a medieval simulator and just intentionally annoying so you can say it's not easy. I keep having to undo my save and go back several hours because even though I'm following a quest for nobility I keep ending up doing crime because it's not clear. Now I'm completely stuck vs the boss Runt. I can't even hit him once, he just runs at me and chops me to death repeatedly. I could never go train my weapons or combat because the guy (Bernard) was never at the training area. There's no way I'm going to start the game over from the beginning, so thanks a lot for wasting all my time and money.

Unplayable without mods

The game features many design decisions, which make it a really poor experience. Excessive amount of headbob make this completely unplayable. This is the second game I've played to have ever caused motion sickness. You have to try really hard to create something this bad. The character’s head spins as if he was drunk all the time. There's a mod which limits that. The default reticle is extremely intrusive. A flaring orange dot in the centre of the screen is extremely distracting. There's a mod which fixes this too. The game is too stringent with saving. This doesn’t add the the realism, this wastes players’ time and leads to lost progress. There are frequent bugs in which the character gets stuck in mid-air or mid-floor, this can during a save point too and requires backtracking. There’s a mod which allows for unlimited saving. Sleep and hunger don’t add to the experience, they simply turn the game into a chore, especially when the sleep/wait timer is extremely slow. There's a mod which limits that. Items are allover the place, but there’s a mod, which introduces better item names. Without mods this game is a 3,5/10 at most.

Best game in 27 years of gaming!

I own more than 500 games and have been playing PC games since 1991. I love rpg, fps, rts, turn based strategy, space games, flight sim etc and all the odd LGR type games in between. Within the last 4 years I do not have much time to play games so often only enjoy some really good games like Deus Ex for 15 hours or so. The only exception is GTA online which I play extensively because you can just jump in for a quick game but maintain a persistent character. The reason I witter on about this is because, with the above in mind, this is the single finest computer game I have played... Ever. This is what I hoped TES Oblivion was going to be. It reminds me of the feel of Lords of the Realm but with TES visuals and Crysis immersion. The acting seems a bit westernised at first but that is because the characters feel real to me. The writing is spectacular! Watch the Brian Blessed YouTube video explaining why he agreed to do the game. Usually, I game for about 10-15 hours per week. Since this has released, I have logged over 80 hours playing with my son who is learning all about 1400s Bohemia! There are bugs, but I have not encountered any game breakers except in one instance where I could not get a mission waypoint but I googled the target NPCs location and just went there.. he was standing there waiting because all NPCs are in the game. (no magical spawn ins). I have been playing with the unlimited save mod which is the biggest criticism of the game but it's as easy to mod as download, upzip, play. Oh yeah, also been cheating like crazy on my second play-through whit cheat-engine and still not caused critical crashes so bravo to the game for being able to cope with that. I cannot guess what everyone else will think, but I think this is the best game ever made and as you can see from my history, that is saying A LOT.
