Welcome, Killbug, to the underbelly of the insect realm, where the skittering masses are caught in an endless battle for dominance.
You threatened them with your power. They clipped your wings and forced you into exile, but it was not enough to sate their hatred. A ravenous ambush awaits, and they want you dead.

The score is for the GOG version which crashed the first couple of times I started it and subsequent attempts would just stall. Tutorial sent me to a screen with a blank background that changed colors as I moved the cursor but did nothing else. The other menu screen buttons did nothing other than make my cursor disappear..
The Steam version works fine and, if you can get it to run here, is 3 stars for game play.
The game runs, title screen is fine, but in-game it only displays HUD items and the gun. The rest is flickering random colors that change as you move the mouse. Same issue as other people here.
The game is very buggy on Linux and not in a good way :( I can only see a gun and a screen with a blank background that changed colors as I moved the cursor but did nothing else. I thought it may be a thing with a Proton compatibility layer but as far as I can see I'm not alone.
One stage. Deterministic waves of escalating intensity to dance around. If you've any familiarity with the work of Sorath, or even the arcade classic Robotron, you're in for the same deal here.
I haven't hit the Tapeworm yet, but from what I've seen of the roster a great deal of care was put into their design to ensure that each enemy unit fills a niche and warps the field of play appropriately. Beyond chaining wallruns, melee, and gun fire, there's a few "hidden" techniques to add a spice more depth. From what I've discovered so far, they're triggered by using melee with proper timing and at the correct angles. The achievement list gives hints, provided you're the type to read it.
Sadly at the time of release on GOG, Killbug seems to simply not run on some people's hardware. Thankfully the game seems a-ok on my 10700 and 1660. Consequently I hope anyone having issues can toss their technical specs at Neon Doctrine and Samurai Punk for analysis.
There's a leaderboard, but I'm pretty sure you need to at least have Galaxy installed on your machine. I've tested booting Killbug with Galaxy shutdown, still seems to be using my sign in. Not sure how that works.
Do also note that as of version 1.1.03-272, there's no option to disable crosshairs. Just a toggle to select between a white box reticle or a dot-hair.
