A lovely Run-and-Gun from Daisuke Amaya. You play as a frog, blasting your way through different stages, collecting coins to upgrade your weapons. It can be tough at spots, but it's also very forgiving, as you never lose upgrades or money. It can take a bit of grinding to get everything maxed out in a single playthrough, but there are a few excellent grind spots, so that shouldn't be a problem. It's not quite Cave Story, but fun and charming, nonetheless.
This game boasts a lot of charm and succinct game design principles. These principles, followed through by the development team, are clear aspects of Japanese culture. Each enemy, non-playable character, and environment is very carefully taken into consideration. They might look a bit generic, but they serve an important balance to create its gun and run oriented gameplay. It's simple story and deceptive appearance might throw some off as being less capable, but for players looking for a challenging gameplay experience, Kero Blaster is the way to go.

The graphics really caught my attention. There's something relatable about seeing a very simple frog sprite with a vacuum cleaner looking gun that I find absolutely charming. I kept playing despite taking long breaks from the title. It's challenging and a bit of a pain trying to beat the game a second time, but it's very much worth your time. I kept playing as I am a fan of platformers with cute aesthetic qualities. And although I found the control scheme cumbersome to get used to during the first times playing, especially with the menu, I thought the game and the languages it's featured in make for a really special gaming experience. A fond memory is made.
