Description
In Kerbal Space Program, take charge of the space program for the alien race known as the Kerbals. You have access to an array of parts to assemble fully-functional spacecraft that flies (or doesn’t) based on realistic aerodynamic and orbital physics. Launch your Kerbal crew into orbit and beyond (while keeping them alive) to explore moons and planets in the Kerbol solar system, constructing bases and space stations to expand the reach of your expedition.

Kerbal Space Program features three gameplay modes. In Science Mode, perform space experiments to unlock new technology and advance the knowledge of Kerbalkind. In Career Mode, oversee every aspect of the space program, including construction, strategy, funding, upgrades, and more. In Sandbox, you are free to build any spacecraft you can think of, with all parts and technology in the game.

Try out the many mods created by the Kerbal Space Program community!
  • Build spaceships, rockets, and vehicles using any imaginable combination of parts, each with their own function that will affect the way your spacecraft behaves.
  • Take full control over your ship’s setup to execute complex flight maneuvers.
  • Manage your Kerbal crewmembers, including hiring, training, and sending them into space to become heroes.
  • Discover a whole star system with unique moons and planets, exploring detailed terrain at a vast scale.
  • Send your Kerbal crew outside their ships for “extra-vehicular” activities.
  • Dock spacecraft together to construct space stations, massive starships, and surface bases on new planets.
  • Use satellites to scan terrain and find biomes and other anomalies.
  • Set up communications networks to communicate between your spacecraft and Kerbal Space Center.
  • Research and develop new technologies to extract valuable information and resources from all over the solar system, and much more!

Space, Kerbals, Explosions, Repeat.

When I first started this game on career mode, I built a metal box with a Kerbal in it, strapped a bomb to the bottom and detonated. Feeling happy with my achievement, I proceeded to do the same. With a bigger rocket... This is one of those 'Easy To Learn Hard To Master' games. It took me one quick trip to a tutorial to work out how the orbital mechanics work, but I have yet to land on the 'Mun' without crashing. But I am confident I will do it soon. If you are impatient you might find this game repetitive or boring, but if you play it for long enough you should succeed. 11/10 This game is excellent and really helped by so many mods.

Unique, but not perfect

That game is not perfect, but is quite unique. I play in 1.1.3 and see some flaws well identified by other reviews : - not a real simulation (Kerbin is way smaller than RL Earth) , - "science" is only some clicks and relies essentially on exploring more zones, - when something explodes finding out why and how to avoid it, - Tech tree is very fun at first, but almost fully researched when getting into interplanetary flights hence lowering the fun of going forward - To progress in the game at some point, you'll need Excel worksheets or ingame mods (it's rocket science, remember ?) - Aerodynamics are too simple for planes (but work for rockets) BUT - You will get a taste of rocket science and space exploration (I'd never watch real ISS/Soyuz video but for having played that game) - You will have to use your brain solving design problems either empirically (a lot of retries), or getting documented and starting to do the math (ingame wiki, ingame tutorials, online guide and videos). - You'll explode a lot a things and make hilarious mistakes : - decoupling boosters at the launch anyone - celebrate your first kerbal in orbit, then figure out he just can't get back on the ground - You'll understand why those previous mistakes are fun ... And I don't know of any other game to do so.

Simply the best

This game is time consuming. If you like space, engineering, building things, the history of the Apollo lunar landing missions and don´t mind a challenge, this is the perfect game. I love it and have spent countless hours trying to get to the moon and other planets. Basically, you will be building rockets to get to space, planting your flag on the moon, conducting experiments on the surface of other planets, in space or on a jet in Kerbin´s atmosphere and so much more! You´ll explore the solar system and learn a lot about the realities of space travel in the most fun way imaginable. The physics are wonderful and the mechanics are actually so realistic that it illustrates the problems that real engineers, building rockets and spacecraft must face. I am willing to say that this is my all time favorite game, and I can´t recommend it enough.

BUY THIS GAME!!!

I've spent many many hours playing this game since version 0.21, and it is without a doubt one of the best experiences I have had in a long long time. BUY IT NOW!!! The learning curve of the game can be a bit steep, but once you get the hang of the controls... You'll still crash a lot... But that is part of the fun and charm of this game :) So get your copy, build the rocket of your dreams and watch it transform your crew into little green chunks, since you forgot to add parachutes for the reentry... (True story)
