Kenshi is an open world, squad based sandbox RPG set in a brutal sword-punk wasteland. Gameplay is open-ended rather than a linear story, so you can play as a settler, a trader, a thief, a rebel, a warlord, an adventurer, a farmer, a slave... or just food for the cannibals.
But first things first,...
But first things first, you need to survive. Train your men up from puny victims to master warriors, carry your wounded squad mates to safety and get them all home alive. You are not the chosen one, you’re not great and powerful, you don’t have more ‘hitpoints’ than everyone else and you are not special. Unless you work for it.
Customise a solo character or a whole squad and train them from puny victims to master warriors
Survive in an unrelenting world of slavers, cannibals, wild beasts and famine. Nowhere is safe.
Build your own fortress, research technologies, craft your own gear and wage war with other factions
Explore and scavenge the uncharted lands of one of the largest single player open world maps to date
Absolutely no level-scaling. The world does not level up along with you and the game won't hold your hand.

quite hard
very fun
maybe not for everyone but I recommend
you have to set goals for yourself for this game to make sense
and when you achieve something you wanted it feels really good
even though it takes time
but its not a waste of your time
The most interesting and immersive game I've played since the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. If something annoys you about the design, it can effortlessly be modded out (e.g. blood spider attack range). Fascinating world design. Great music. Good UI. Unlike virtually all RPG games, the combat mechanics are actually well-designed and fun.
Highly recommend.
I almost returned this game; if it weren't for the tiny number of developers, I would have. I have a great deal of 'hope' for this title, and perhaps in the future we will see some optimization that leads to significantly less lag. Path-finding is HORRIBLE; can't count the times I've been engaged in combat because one of my characters gets stuck on a tree. Path-finding requires tedious micromanagement. Graphics were dated a decade ago, but the art design is interesting. Neat features include the levelling system idea, but could use (like the rest of the game) a great deal more polish and balance.
Character development would be much more fun if they had real personalities and more than half a dozen things to say. The open world sandbox is fun, but lacks any compelling story, only hints thereof. Can become repetitive in the late game.
I'd recommend this game for those who's expectations are aligned with reality. I sincerely hope that the developers continue to iron out the kinks and put work into this. They could turn this into a gem.
If you Like Kenshi, get Rimworld if you like Rimworld, Get Kenshi.
always wanted a game like this and I want more games like this.
I hope Kenshi II is more of this I got to go play more Kenshi Now...or Rimworld.
World is literally bare bones empty, you have multiple different factions which own unique quirks, but its not enough to say anything beyond what they wear and if they are friendly or not
Kenshi by itself is very disappointing if you wanna play for like 100-1000 hours, you can get this numbers with it, but you will have to write and lead own stories to do it
Earlygame is driven by desire to survive and be meaningful in this world and in that regard game is FANTASTIC, THIS IS SO EASY AND SIMPLE and yet so little games dare to even do that in the 1st place
What does kenshi do exactly? you are just another guy, your stats are scalled down to lowest possible (fair 1/1/1 not bullshit) and here you go, survive, you will most likely face enemies with 15-40 stats base so if you wanna combat, you need to be smart about it
Game is missing any depth its like New Vegas once you do all the quests, but with RTS style gameplay and building system
Every merchant buys everything at the same price, no matter if thats iron for the blacksmith or for bakery, simplification sure, but also makes economical system of the game even more empty
but sure, game does not need to have top economy to be engaging and fun
in kenshi Fun are Tension and survival, exploration and power scale
Exploration kind of suck!
let me elaborate, you have giant 1 000 000m2 world you can explore ruins of most advanced civilizations known in the world just to get WHAT exactly? single piece of sword merchant in starting town could sell you for 2 chunks of copper??
THIS IS OUTRIGHT INSULTING!
Pros:
Big world
Feeling stronger by own efforts
Freedom for the player
You are just a person here
Its nice to discover new places
Game is modable which can help
My mods exist which will save you
Plenty of mechanics to try
Cons
Giant time sink in the bad/good way
you must push yourself to make game feel fun
There is absolutely no balance
Nobody tested mechanics in practical fun
Basebuilding can be a trap
Endgame is a wasteland
